Manju Ahuja (born 1961) is an Indian born American scientist. She is currently Frazier Family Professor of Information Systems at the College of Business, University of Louisville, Kentucky.[1] Ahuja’s research is related to the IT workforce, the future of work, work-life balance, the impacts and use of IT (including mobile technologies), innovation, and virtual communities and teams.[2]

Ahuja has published over 80 journal articles, book chapters, and conference papers.[3] She has co-authored two books, one on Work-Life Balance and one on Virtual Work. She has been ranked among the top 50 researchers in the field of Information Systems worldwide. She received the 2020 Lifelong Service Award from the Academy of Management’s OCIS division.[4] In addition, she is a five-time recipient of the University of Louisville’s College of Business Faculty Research Excellence Award.[5]

Ahuja has held visiting appointments at several universities including University of New South Wales, University of California at Irvine, University of Hawaii at Manoa, National University of Singapore, Bocconi University and Pennsylvania State University. She has given numerous keynote speeches at conferences and universities. Her work has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Forbes, London School of Economics, Times of India, Computerworld, Strategy+Business, and others.

Education

Ahuja earned a Ph.D. in Information Systems from the University of Pittsburgh in 1996 and an MBA from Pace University in 1985.

Career

Ahuja started her career as an assistant professor at Florida State University, and the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University. In 2007, she joined the University of Louisville as department chair and associate professor of Information Systems. She was appointed University Scholar in 2012 and Frazier Family Professor of Information Systems in 2019.

In 2008, Ahuja was elected to a five-year leadership role in OCIS division of the Academy of Management. In this rotation, she served as the professional development workshops chair, doctoral consortium chair, program chair, and division chair. During her tenure at OCIS, she was responsible for the growth and development of the members, especially junior scholars, senior scholars, and doctoral students. She continues to be actively engaged in the Academy of Management conferences and workshops. In 2020, this division awarded her a lifelong service award.[6]

She has given dozens of talks at University of Pittsburgh, Michigan State University, National University of Singapore, University of Queensland, University of Minnesota and numerous others. In 2018, Ahuja was appointed a visiting professional fellow at the University of New South Wales, Australia.[7]

During her career, Ahuja has received four NSF (National Science Foundation) Grants for her research, amounting to over $2 million.[8]

Ahuja has served as a Senior Editor at several premier journals including the MIS Quarterly (2014–-2017), the Journal of AIS (2017–-2019), and Information Systems Research (2019-2022). She has also served as associate editor for Management Information Systems Quarterly (2010-–2014), Information Systems Research (2006-–2008), Management Science (2006), and others.[9]

Ahuja has published articles in several scholarly journals including MIS Quarterly, Management Science, Information Systems Research, Journal of MIS, Journal of AIS, Organization Science, Journal of Management, European Journal of Information Systems, and other outlets.[10]

Awards and recognition

Ahuja has been ranked among the top 50 researchers in the field of Information Systems worldwide by the Association of Information Systems, Stanford University and other sources.[11]
