China M Johnson (born 29 August 1998), popularly known as MadeChinaJay is an American entrepreneur, media personality, producer, actress, and socialite. China is regarded as one of the fastest-growing brand influencers in the entertainment industry and currently has over 600k followers on Youtube and Instagram combined.[1]
China has gained recognition through her appearances in movies. She is well-known for her honest and detailed brand reviews spanning a myriad of industries such as telecommunications, personal care, shopping, banking, etc. She has also received multiple awards as an influencer including two Golden Globe Awards.
Early life and education
China was born on 29 August 1998 in Terre Haute, Indiana to an African-American couple. While growing up, she developed a keen interest in becoming an actress, so her family relocated to Austin, where she began taking acting classes.
China graduated from Terre Haute South Vigo High school in 2016 and then enrolled in Indiana State University completing her bachelor’s in 2020.
Career
China started her career as a Youtuber posting videos of herself singing, dancing, and entertaining her followers. Eventually, she caught the eye of two major industry giants BYTE and Mint Mobile, and partnered with them for their social media marketing.[2] This venture resulted in her doing brand commercials for another prominent brand - Verizon. For Mint Mobile, China promoted its affordable and flexible wireless plans, along with sharing her new-found interest in technology with her followers. She swiftly grew her subscriber base to over 370,000 as of 2023.
Apart from that, China has also partnered with multiple Forbes-listed businesses, marketing their products and doing brand commercials for them, becoming THE FACE of these brands. China has also been featured in the HBO teen drama series Euphoria and voiced a character in the Hulu series called The Bravest Knight.
