Lee Bullen (born Lee Daniel Bullen on 8 October 1973 in Woking) is an English journalist, screenwriter and author based in the Canary Islands, Spain.[1]. In a career spanning over 20 years, Bullen has written numerous Book and Screenplay, and regularly contributes articles to many leading publications in the United Kingdom and United States, including Daily Mirror, The Sun (United Kingdom) and Newsweek[2]

Career

Raised in Woking in Surrey, Bullen studied art and design at the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham, and started work as an illustrator and graphic designer after graduating[3]. Following his move to Tenerife in Spain in 2001, Bullen transitioned into journalism and went on to become editor-in-chief at several English-speaking newspapers based in Spain[4]. After going Freelancer and becoming a regular contributor for leading UK newspapers and magazines, Bullen wrote his first book 'Beset: The Pursuit of Happiness in Times of Crisis',[5] based on his experiences of raising an Autism spectrum child during the Financial crisis of 2007–2008, and it promptly became a bestseller on Amazon (company) in early 2013[6]. The next year, Bullen wrote the fictional romantic comedy novel 'Double Ex',[7] also a number one hit on Amazon Kindle.

During the early 2010s, Bullen developed two Sitcom, 'New Ageing' and 'Where Are They Now?', for the UK production company The Comedy Unit that were ultimately dropped due to budget restraints caused by the Global financial crisis and subsequent years of austerity[8]. Both Television pilots appear in Bullen's 'Unmade Classics' book released in 2012.[9]

In recent years, Bullen continues to write for leading UK and US publications from his home in Tenerife and produces Digital video for his Eponym YouTube channel.

In 2021, Bullen was interviewed by Jonnie Irwin on an episode of A Place in the Sun (British TV series) to talk about Tenerife as an inspiration for his writing[10].

Personal life

Bullen was married from 2003 to 2010, and has two children including an autistic son. Due to his "unique bond" with his son, autism is often a theme in many of Bullen's works.
