Khoa Le is an Australian data scientist and artificial intelligence engineer, and the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Eyes of AI™, a Sydney-based MedTech company that develops AI-driven diagnostic technologies for the dental industry.[1]

Early life and education

Khoa Le was formally trained in quantitative finance, actuarial science, and computer modelling, which laid the foundation for his transition into data and AI engineering. He later applied these skills to advance innovation in healthcare.[2]

Khoa Le completed his tertiary education at the Australian National University (ANU), earning multiple degrees across finance, economics, and actuarial science.[3]

He graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Finance and Economics, and concurrently completed a Bachelor of Actuarial Studies, majoring in Actuarial Science, Economics, and Finance in 2004.[4]

Following his undergraduate studies, Khoa obtained a Master of Finance from ANU in 2007. His postgraduate thesis, titled "The Profitability of Genetic Algorithms in the Australian Equity Market", was awarded a High Distinction. The research focused on developing quantitative investment strategies using genetic algorithms. As part of this work, Khoa built computer models in C++ that executed automated trades on the Australian financial market.[5]

Career

In 2019, after a personal dental experience that highlighted the limitations of conventional radiographic interpretation, Khoa Le identified an opportunity to apply artificial intelligence to dental imaging with the aim of improving diagnostic accuracy and clinical efficiency. He subsequently founded Eyes of AI™ with his brother, Dr Sen Le, a practising dentist. The company was established to support clinicians by developing tools intended to enhance diagnostic precision and reduce manual interpretation time.[6]

Eyes of AI™ developed machine learning models capable of identifying anatomical landmarks and detecting pathological conditions in dental and maxillofacial radiographs, including panoramic (OPG), bite-wing (BW), periapical (PA), and cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images. Since its establishment in Australia, the company has expanded internationally, with a distributed team of approximately 40 employees across 15 countries.

Before founding Eyes of AI™, Khoa held roles as a data scientist, statistician and AI engineer. He worked at Deloitte, Access Economics and the Australian Federal Treasury focusing on quantitative analytics, economic modelling, and strategic consulting. His professional experience in both public policy and private sector analytics contributed to the development of his work in AI-based healthcare solutions.[5][7]

Khoa is also the founder of the Aid Asia Initiative, a social enterprise supporting sustainable development in rural communities across Asia. The initiative has been involved in infrastructure and education projects, including the construction of schools throughout the south east Asian region. He is also a co-founder of the Australian Society of Dental AI (ASDA), an organisation promoting the integration of artificial intelligence into dental research and clinical practice.[8]

Partnerships and funding

Eyes of AI™ has received early-stage funding and research support from several government and scientific institutions. Initial backing was provided through the New South Wales Government’s MVP Ventures grant and the CSIRO Data61 Kickstart program, which facilitated foundational research and team expansion.[9]

The company has since formed strategic partnerships with a number of international dental imaging organisations. In 2025, Eyes of AI™ announced collaborations with W&H Group and Vatech, aimed at incorporating its artificial intelligence technologies into their respective imaging platforms.[10][11]

Eyes of AI has also partnered with the UK-based Medical Imaging Partnership (MIP) and Prime Health Diagnostics to support the integration of AI into radiology reporting workflows.[12][13]

In the same year, the company signed a multi-year research agreement with CSIRO to co-develop AI systems focused on improving global oral health outcomes, particularly in areas such as accessibility, prevention, and healthcare cost reduction.[9]

Awards and recognition

Eyes of AI™ has won multiple accolades including:

  • 2023 NSW iAwards: Business and Industry Solution of the Year Winner[14]
  • 2023 National iAwards: Business and Industry Solution of the Year Merit[15]
  • 2023 APICTA Research and Development Project of the Year Winner[16]
  • 2023 APICTA Artificial Intelligence Project of the Year Merit[16]
  • 2024 Business Intelligence Awards: Artificial Intelligence Excellence Award[6]

Public engagement

Khoa Le has actively contributed to the advancement of artificial intelligence in healthcare through numerous speaking engagements, media features, and international collaborations. He is a recognised advocate for the ethical and responsible development of AI, particularly within dental diagnostics.[17]

In March 2025, Khoa delivered a keynote address at the 10th Edition of the International Conference on Dentistry and Oral Health (Dental 2025) in Rome, where he explored the transformative role of AI in oral health, diagnostics, and treatment planning. Earlier that year, he also presented at Dental 2024 in Singapore, discussing the development of advanced AI technologies for comprehensive detection of conditions across the craniomaxillofacial region.[18][19]

Khoa was also invited to speak at the ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 42 Artificial Intelligence Workshop in December 2023, where he presented “Bridging Gaps: How AI is Solving the Dental Industry’s Biggest Challenges.” His insights contributed to global standardisation efforts and highlighted AI’s value in real-world clinical settings.[20][21]

His public voice extends into podcast and media platforms. Khoa appeared on the AI Australia Podcast in July 2023, sharing the development journey of Eyes of AI™ and its application of deep learning in dental imaging. He also featured on InnovationAus’ Commercial Disco in November 2023, where he discussed deep-tech commercialisation, regulatory pathways, and the challenges of talent acquisition in Australia. In April 2025, Khoa was interviewed by Marketing in Asia, reflecting on his entrepreneurial journey, leadership philosophy, and Eyes of AI’s global vision.[1][22]

Additionally, Khoa was featured in a fireside chat at the Cicada x DeepTech event in October 2023, co-hosted by CSIRO and Cicada Innovations in partnership with La French Tech Australia. There, he showcased how Eyes of AI™ collaborates with CSIRO to elevate diagnostic accuracy through next-generation medical imaging AI.[22]

Khoa’s public engagement reflects a consistent commitment to promoting inclusive, transparent, and clinically impactful AI applications, positioning him as a leading voice in the intersection of medical technology and ethical innovation.[1]

Personal life

Khoa resides in Sydney, Australia, and is dedicated to advancing AI in healthcare through both public dialogue and private mentorship. His off-duty hours are spent supporting emerging founders and indulging his passion for rugby league and playing recreational touch football. He’s also an avid tech enthusiast who enjoys exploring gaming and experimenting with creative AI applications beyond the scope of dentistry.[5]
