Jeremy Schulman is an American attorney, founder, and managing partner of Schulman Bhattacharya, one of the country's most sought-after law firms.[1] Schulman also serves as the Chairman of the Litigation and Arbitration Group of the firm.[2] He specializes in complex commercial litigation cases, corporate counseling, internal investigations, and international/domestic arbitration.[3][4]

Schulman, throughout his career, has appeared as an expert in both state and federal courts in Washington DC, representing clients from various industries including government bodies, universities, hospitals, and telecommunications.[5] Among his many accolades, he is also recognized by Super Lawyers, a platform that acknowledges the leading lawyers in the United States.[6]

Early life and education

Schulman was born in 1973 in Rochester, New York. Later, after completing his high school education, he enrolled at Cornell University where he acquired his bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Government. During his time there, Schulman was a member of the Quill and Dagger society and WVBR. In 1990 he attended the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1994. During his time there, he also served as an articles editor for the Buffalo Law Review.

Career

Schulman began his career in 1995 as an intern at Indiana Public Defender’s Office. After a year he began working at the District of Columbia Court of Appeals under Judge John Steadman as a law clerk.[7]

In 1998 Schulman joined the law offices of LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae LLP, where he established his private legal practice as a commercial litigator.[8] Two years later, he joined the Litigation Department of the law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, serving in their New York and Washington, D.C. offices as a commercial litigator.[9]

After that, in 2003, Schulman joined the law offices of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP, where he worked for three years.[10] In 2005, he also became a member of Schulman Rogers, where he was a shareholder for twelve years.[11]

Schulman co-founded Schulman Bhattacharya, a commercial litigation law company, in 2017, where he currently serves as the managing partner. The company under his leadership was also rated by Super Lawyers in 2020 for its bespoke litigation services.[12]

Philanthropy

Apart from his career as an attorney, Schulman is also actively involved in philanthropic activities.[13] He supports civic causes both in the United States and Internationally. Schulman is also a board member of the Round House Theater, and in 2022, he established the Jeremy Schulman Scholarship for First-Generation Americans[14] to give financing for immigrant children and raise awareness of the issues they face.[15][16]
