Jennifer Tattanelli is a fashion designer, entrepreneur, former model and influencer. Born in Florence, Italy, she is the owner and creative director of label Jennifer Tattanelli which she started from the decades long family leather business. Tattanelli designs customized leather products ranging from bags, shoes, dresses and handmade fashion accessories for both men and women.[1]
Tattanelli's fashion sense and artistic skills have helped her in designing bespoke, tailor made fashion leather products for her clients. Her label has its major influence on maintaining the individuality and uniqueness in its products. Given the abundance of fashion designers, Tattanelli focused on offering superior value and luxurious appeal to all her collections and creating a brand that focuses primarily on leather products that she can customize or bespoke based on her customer needs and body type. In an interview, she shared that she believes it is evident that designers focus on style but they often compromise on comfort and this is where her label has an edge and created a name in the leather fashion industry.[2]
Jennifer Tattanelli label utilizes the association of her name with high-end designer leather products, benefiting the label in the fashion industry. Her Ateliers offer a retail experience where Tattanelli herself engages in one on one customer interaction, understanding their requirements and making tailor made fashion for her clients.
Early life and education
Born in Florence, Italy, Tattanelli was raised in a bilingual family to American mother and Italian father. Tattanelli’s great grandfather Dr. James Ewing was a famed pathologist (Ewing Sarcoma) and Samuel Clemens, the author of American literary classics The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is her great great uncle. Since her childhood Tattanelli was always surrounded by art. Her grandmother June Ewing was a famous folk art collector and artist. She got herself into designing while helping her mother who was a theatrical costume designer which helped her in developing her own individual style.
She wanted to follow the path led by her grandfather and majored in mathematics and physics in graduation to further pursue a career in medicine and research. Tattanelli completed her Fashion Merchandising course from Accademia Italiana - Arte Moda & Design in 1994.
Career
Tattanelli has been a fashion model and also did theater in her childhood years (Quogue Junior Theatre). The culture, buildings, art, and craftsmanship of Florence is often seen to have inspired Tattanelli’s design and personal style.
In 1997, she started her career with Calvin Klein, New York as an Assistant Merchandiser in Men’s Accessories. Tattanelli got promoted to the designation of VP Merchandising Men’s Accessories in 1998. She worked with Calvin Klein till 1999 and then moved back to Florence to expand her family business and launched her own label Jennifer Tattanelli in 2000. Her brand has now been globally known for over 22 years for creating designer bespoke leather products.
Tattanelli currently has 5 retail ateliers in Florence, Italy; Palm Beach,[3] Florida; Westhampton Beach, New York; and Long Island, New York. With over 10k followers on instagram Tattanelli is often seen styling her own products for creating content on her social handles.
