Jay Cameron Beckett (born 17 December, 1985) better known as Jay Beckett, is an American actor, filmmaker, producer, director, and theater artist.[1] He started his career as an actor and has appeared in a number of shorts, theater plays and music videos, later he was inclined towards filmmaking and joined The Los Angeles Film School to learn filmmaking and direction.[2]

Born in Lima, Peru, Beckett has founded "Second Act Films", a production company through which directs and as well as produces films under his own banner. His filmmaking work has been recognized on a number of occasions by the media and high-tier news references including Shoutout LA, Akoibon Le Film, Opera News, and others.

Early life and education

Jay Beckett was born on 17 December 1985, in Lima, Peru. He attended Catholic schools including Colegio Lord Byron, Nuestra Seora del Rosario, and Colegio San Jose, among others. His writing and films are influenced by his early exposure to Catholicism. Beckett developed a love for the performing arts at a young age and participated in numerous productions. During his childhood, he relocated to many towns in Peru because of his father's job. He eventually relocated to Los Angeles with his family in 2003 when he was seventeen.

In 2010, Beckett attended Pepperdine University to complete a Bachelor's degree in business administration and management. In 2015, he completed a Master's degree course in Finance from the Pepperdine Graziadio Business School.

In 2020, to follow his passion in filmmaking, he attended Los Angeles Film School to complete a course in Cinematography and Film/Video Production.

Career

Theater

Beginning in 2016, Beckett attended Cypress College and The Beverly Hills Playhouse in Beverly Hills, California to study theatre and scene work.[3] Picasso from Picasso at the Lapin Agile, Mr. Miracolous from Wonder Women, and Jack from Breathing Time were among the characters he played on stage. He joined the John Miyasaki-led Hereandnow acting assembly in 2019 as a member.[4]
