James "Thuch" Madhier is a Toronto-based South Sudanese humanitarian, keynote speaker and CEO[1][2].

Early Life

Madhier was born in Tonj, South Sudan. At the age of 15, escaping the Sudan Civil War|Sudanese Civil War, he fled to Kenya where he lived in Kakuma Refugee Camp[2]. In 2014 he moved to Canada after enrolling at University of Toronto via the Refugee Sponsorship Program run by World University Service of Canada.[2][3][4]

Career

Madhier is a member of the board of directors of Médecins sans Frontières Canada[5], the CEO of Rainmaker Enterprise,[6][7] and is a Community Scholar at The Dahdaleh Institute for Global Health Research.[8] He serves on the Advisory Council of Grand Challenges Canada.[9]

Madhier has spoken at events organised by TEDxTrinityBellwoods[10], and The Reach Alliance.[11]

Madhier is CEO of Rainmaker Enterprise, a social enterprise that uses solar energy to provide drinking water and support sustainable farming in South Sudan.[12][13][14][15]
