Evans Yeboah is a Ghanaian business executive, investment analyst, sports administrator, and philanthropist, known for his contributions to the financial services telecommunications industry and his national leadership roles in the administration of the Olympic sport of badminton.[1]

Early life and education

Evans Yeboah was born on September 12, in Agona Swedru, Ghana. At six, his family moved to Cape Coast, where he attended Montessori School. He received a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Cape Coast.[2] He completed an Executive Master of Business Administration at China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) in Shanghai.[2] Additionally, he pursued a Master of Laws (LLM) at the University of Manchester's Master of Laws (LLM) program at Robert Kennedy College.[2]

He also enrolled at Fox School of Business and Management, Temple University, USA and in 2003, he completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Financial Management from the Institute of Commercial Management, secured a finance scholarship with Goldman Sachs in the Investment Banking Division, and worked there till the end of the 2008 Global Financial Crisis.[2]

Career

In 2004, Evans' career began as the Head of Investment and Infrastructure at Country Development Contracts Limited (CDCL). Later, he served as Vice President at Nova Capital Partners in New York, focusing on infrastructure advisory services. In December 2012, Yeboah became Regional Managing Director at Discoverytel Tel Inc., a West African Telecom service provider, managing a firm with revenues over $15 million.[3][4]

In 2013, Yeboah assumed a role in sports administration as the National Board Treasurer of Ghana's Badminton Association Executive Board.[5] In 2015, Evans served as a guest speaker at the annual African (WiMAX Africa Awards).[6][3]

In 2017, he was elected as the President and Chair of the Ghana Badminton Federation.[1][5][7] Yeboah formerly served as the Vice President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) and is also a member and Chair of Finance of the governing body of the Badminton Confederation of Africa.[2][5][8][9][10][11]

In 2018, he contested for the African Badminton Board President Position and withdrew in the final voting rounds to support the current Badminton Africa President, Tukebana Michel Bau. At the world Governing Body elections, Yeboah was a candidate for a Board Member position in the Olympic Sport.[12][13]

In 2019, he served as the Board Chairman of AFS Intercultural Exchange Programs, Ghana.[2] He was re-elected as the President of the Ghana Badminton Federation in November 2021.[1][14][15]

He has served as Ghana Delegation's Chef de Mission and Team leader at the Commonwealth Games and Olympic Games.

Evans led the first Yale Alumni Service Corps visit to Africa, focusing on community development and inaugurating an ICT center in the Yamoransa Community.[16][17][18][19]

Awards and recognition

Evans Yeboah has received several awards and recognitions, including nominations for the Ghana Telecom Awards, listing on CSQ's 40 Under 40, and being a four-time recipient of the SWAG Best National Federation Awards.[20]
