Life

Elmar Kleiner was born in 1963 in Wangen im Allgäu in the south of Germany. In the same year the Family moved to Lindau (Bodensee), a small picturesque town near the border to Austria and Switzerland.

Education

Elmar Kleiner's dream was to become a sports doctor, however due to irrational numerus clausus regulations in the early 80s he did not receive admission to a medical university and decided to pursue a career in arts & architecture.[2]

Career

Elmar Kleiner's collective architectural disciplines and practises include work experiences for a number of prestigious architectural offices from all over the world before he became a member of the German Architect Council (Deutsche Architektenkammer) in 1995 and, within the same year, founded his own architectural practice.

Since 2002, Elmar Kleiner's lifelong “green” vision has lead him become one of the pioneering experts in sustainable designs throughout the southeast Asian region and a regular active participant at various international sustainability conferences. Additionally, he is an active member of the AHK Thailand (German-Thai Chamber of Commerce, German Thai Chamber of Commerce) and the official representative of the German architect council’s international division NAX (Netzwerk Architekturexport) in Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos.

Under his “green” leadership, Elmar Kleiner has lead OIA (Office for Interior & Architecture) to quickly become one of the most sought after multi-disciplinary architectural firms in the region, most notably when it comes to unique integrated design solutions with sustainability and holistic undermine.[3]
