Elisa Mascia (born April 13, 1956) is an Italian writer, poet, translator, journalist, cultural promoter, and retired teacher.[1] She is recognized for her contributions to Italian and Spanish literature and cultural preservation. She has also played a pivotal role in international literary collaborations, poetry anthologies, and arts promotion.[2]
Mascia is co-founder of WikiPoesia and coordinates and directs for Italy several international literary festivals, including the Panorama International Festival of Literature and Arts (PILF and PIAF) .[3]
Early life and education
Mascia was born on April 13, 1956, in Santa Croce di Magliano, Italy, to Pasquale Mascia and Otimia Ada María Verrillo. As a child, Mascia exhibited a keen interest in creative expression, often writing poetry and capturing the beauty of her surroundings through photography. She pursued her education at the Magistral Institute and the Instituto Sant'Alfonso de' Liguori.
Career
Mascia began her writing career with a passion for poetry.[4] She published her first poetry collection, La Grattugia della Luna (The Grater of the Moon), in July 2019. She has participated in numerous national and international poetry competitions, receiving various awards and recognitions. Mascia released Melodia d’amore (Melody of Love) in July 2023 and Tra l’infinito e l’immenso (Between the Infinite and the Immense) in February 2024. Her poetry often explores themes of love and humanity.[5]
Mascia has also contributed to numerous anthologies, such as PLANETARY SONG: Brotherhood on Earth (2023).
Mascia has made notable contributions as a translator, bringing works from various poets into Italian, including those of NilavroNill Shoovro and Asoke Kumar Mitra. Her translations have helped bridge cultural gaps and promote international literary dialogue.[6]
Mascia serves as an editor and contributor to platforms such as Alessandria Today and Alessandria Online Blog, focusing on national and international art and culture. She is an active member of the Writers Capital Foundation International, serving as the Italian Coordinator for events such as the Panorama International Literature Festival (PILF) and Panorama International Arts Festival (PIAF) (2022–2024). In 2023, she led the Hagiography Iconography International Biennial. She is also a member of the European Executive Council of the RENAISSANCE MILLENNIUM III of George Onsy and the Thrinakìa Prize Jury.[7]
Mascia has been a registered and founding member of WikiPoesia since February 2020, contributing to the dissemination of poetic knowledge. She serves as the academic coordinator and administrator for Italy at the Luso Academy-Brasileiro Albap, fostering cultural ties between Italy and Brazil.[8]
As an organizer, Mascia has contributed to the International Literature Panorama Festivals and edits The Complete Magazine, an Italian literary platform hosted on WritersEdition.com. In May 2024, she joined Ciesart, receiving formal recognition from its president, Lily Baylon Escritora.[9]
Mascia co-hosted the bilingual program En Alas del Fénix on Radio Krysol Internacional, where she presented video declamations of her own poems and those of other authors in Italian and Spanish. She is also the creator and curator of the blog Magiche Emozioni dell’Anima—nonsolopoesiarte.art.blog.[10]
Mascia expanded her creative expression to the visual arts, studying painting and drawing under Argentine artist Ángel Guiñazu. Lily Baylón Writer chosen as its Ambassador of Culture She presented video recitations by poets and artists from around the world in the program On the Wings of the Phoenix.[11]
Mascia has participated in theatrical productions, including Barefoot in the Park (2021), Poverty and Nobility (2023), and No Secrets (2024). She has also been a voice donor for audio productions like A Voice from the Darkness by Pietro La Barbera with the mp3 reading of the children's book "The Snow Queen," "You Can Heal Your Life" by Louise L. Hay, and "End of Summer" by Danielle Steel.
Mascia has been recognized as an “Ambassador of Peace,” promoting harmony on a global scale. She is a Grihaswamini Ambassador to Italy, representing the country in international literary forums, including Mundo Literario Universal, and collaborated with figures such as Nicaraguan journalist Carlos Javier Jarquin.[12]
Mascia has collaborated with international artists, including Argentine poet and actress Alicia Antonia Muñoz Verri, highlighting the universal nature of art and literature.[13]

- César Vallejo World Prize for Literary Excellence (2024) from the Spanish-World Writers Union (UHE, Peru).

- Histonium Award from 2009 to 2019 Diploma of Academic Correspondence awarded by the president of the Espirito-Santiago academy, professor emeritus Ester Abreu Vieira De Oliveira.

Personal life
Mascia resides in San Giuliano di Puglia, Italy, with her husband, Umberto Persichillo, and their four children (Nunzio, Pasquale, Maria Giuseppina, Giovanni Mario). Two daughters-in-law and two grandchildren Elisa and Alessandro.
