Dr. Terence Mclvor (born September 2nd, 1970) AKA the Synaptic Trainer™, is an Irish entrepreneur, academic, chemistry professor, transformative coach, clinical hypnotherapist and hypnotherapy trainer, neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) practitioner, master practitioner, and trainer. He is a well-known educational professional who has dedicated his career to improving global access to education.[1]
Dr. McIvor founded the International Guild of Hypnotherapy, NLP, and 3 Principles Practitioners and Trainers (IGH3P).[2] He is the founder and CEO of the Sales Doctor Counselling and Life Coaching Clinic (AKA The Sales Doctor Neuro-Sensory Psychology, Hypnotherapy and Chronic Pain Reprocessing Clinic for Entrepreneurs and Business Professionals).[3]
Dr. Mclvor is a thought leader in various areas, including leadership, sales performance, neuro-linguistic psychology, critical problem-solving, and research. As a pain reprocessing coach, Dr. McIvor leverages neuroplastic pain reprocessing techniques to alleviate chronic pain.[4]
Early life and education
Dr. Mclvor was born and raised in Derry, Northern Ireland. He studied at St. Joseph's School and obtained a national diploma in science from the Northwest Institute of Further and Higher Education.
Dr. Mclvor holds a degree in biochemistry from Ulster University. He furthered his studies at the same university, obtaining postgraduate certificates in Further and Higher Education and Education Technology. In 2012, he graduated from Bundelkhand University, obtaining a PhD in chemical education and graduated from the same university with a master’s degree in computer applications in 2014. He also holds a master’s in psychology, majoring in neuroscience and psychiatric applications, from Manipur International University. Dr McIvor holds overseas citizenship of India (OCI).
Career
Dr. Mclvor started his career as a textile chemist at Lintrend. In 1999, he joined Seagate Technology as an assistant engineer.
Dr. Mclvor is a seasoned educationalist and curriculum development specialist with over 20 years of experience. He is recognised as a STEM and science expert at levels 6 and 7 by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (OFQUAL) in the U.K.[5]
Dr. McIvor started his career in 1996 with North West Further and Higher Education Institute (NWFHE) Ireland as a lecturer. In 2012, he was promoted to the head of vocational education and quality assurance within the Science and Mathematics Section. During his tenure, Dr. McIvor was instrumental in developing several academic initiatives that were novel to the further and higher education sector at the time, such as an innovative Applied Mathematics Support Centre for students who found mathematics difficult. With support from Queens University Belfast and Maynooth University, Dr McIvor published a paper in the MSOR connections detailing the setup of the pilot mathematics centre.[6] He also met with the Salters company in London and persuaded them to hold the Salters Festival of Chemistry at the NWIFHE now known as NWRC. This was the first time the Salters Festival of Chemistry was held at a further education college anywhere in the UK at the time. DR. McIvor was also instrumental in fostering[7] an Applied Research Initiative in collaboration with Ulster University.[8]
Dr. Mclvor also served as a Visiting Professor of Bio-Physical Chemistry at Afriford University in Benin, contributing his expertise over an extensive period. He was a visiting scholar on bio-physical chemistry at Bundelkhand University, Jhansi. Dr. Mclvor has contributed his insights as a scientific reviewer for the Biomedical and Therapeutic Sciences journal in India, actively participating on the review panel. He also serves as a certification specialist at the American Institute of Chemists in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, reviewing members' qualifications and industrial experience. He also holds a fellow level membership at the same prestigious organisation. Additionally, he was an examiner for Pearson, evaluating AS and A2 Chemistry papers, serving as a standards verifier, and ensuring adherence to national standards in school assessments within the UK.[9]
Dr. Mclvor was a member of the Albert Schweitzer Society ( 2014-2017) , representing Ireland. He developed relationships with governmental agencies to support global educational and humanitarian projects. He created educational initiatives for underprivileged children and youth.[10]
Additionally, Dr Mclvor served on the research review panel for LeadMedical, contributing to the assessment of cutting-edge research on the chemical and biochemical processing of nutrients in the body.
Dr. Mclvor is a certified practitioner and trainer in hypnotherapy, neuroscience health coaching, chronic pain reprocessing, neurolinguistic psychology (NLP), and coaching. He currently serves as a trainer for several hypnosis professional bodies in the United States.
Dr McIvor is also currently a senior contributor to Brainz Magazine and was awarded BRAINZ 500 GLOBAL award[11] in 2021 and was featured in the London Daily Post as one of the 12 Top Life Coaches to Follow in 2022.[12]
In 2017, Dr. Mclvor established the Academy for International Science and Research (AISR), which is a STEM-accredited school in the UK, where he engages in teaching, coach training, and research. Dr. Terry holds approval from IACT, IMDHA, ICBCH, and the Dave Elman Institute (DEI), providing certified hypnotherapy training, including medical and dental hypnosis. The academy is recognised as an affiliate training institution by the Hypnotherapy Directory U.K. and has earned accreditation from the International Practitioners for Holistic Medicine. Additionally, the academy is associated with various schools, colleges, and universities in the European union. He is a full member of the prestigious British Society of Clinical Hypnosis and the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council in the UK.[13][14]
Dr. McIvor established the International Guild of Hypnotherapy, NLP, and 3 Principles, Practitioners and Trainers, a fully accredited professional body committed to elevating standards in hypnotherapy, coaching, neuro-linguistic psychology, and neurosensory psychology with neuroscience applications.[15] His undertakings encompass specialised sessions in hypnotherapy, NLP, and pain neural pathway reprocessing (PNPR), along with providing a comprehensive certification and accreditation service for coaching and mentoring programs.[16]
Dr. McIvor is known for developing the SynapGen™ -NSP Coaching System, an innovative approach integrating neuroscience, NLP, and rapid sensory methods to enhance performance. He has established accredited qualifications for this methodology, and has also developed the SynapGen™ Pain Neural Pathway Reprocessing (PNPR) process for chronic pain sufferers.[17]
Dr Terry has been trained by the Pain Reprocessing Therapy Institute in the United States and Also by the Stress Illness Recovery Practitioners’ Association (SIRPA) in the UK.[18][19]
Dr. McIvor has established the Sales Doctor Coaching and Hypnotherapy Clinic (AKA The Sales Doctor Neuro-Sensory Psychology, Hypnotherapy and Chronic Pain Reprocessing Clinic for Entrepreneurs and Business Professionals). As the CEO, he assists salespeople, entrepreneurs, and other professionals experiencing underperformance in their fields towards career success.
As a renowned mentor, Dr. McIvor is a coach mentor for EMCC UK and the IRCM.CIC,[20][21] and holds a fellow level membership with the the Association for Coaching. He is highly regarded for his multi-disciplinary expertise. He is a contributor to the syndicated Price of Business podcast, making Dr. McIvor a syndicated podcaster within his fields of expertise. He also contributes to several online media and print publications. He has been featured in Yahoo Finance, MSN, LA Wire, Valiant CEO, London Daily Post, and US Healthcare Journal, to name a few. Dr. Terry’s inclusion in these prestigious publications recognises his expertise and authority in hypnotherapy, NLP, neuroscience, pain reprocessing, and coaching.
