Deepak Reddy is an Indian film director, producer, and writer. He is best known for his short films, Hide and Seek (2016) and the award-winning Manasanamaha (2020)[1][2][3][4]. Reddy holds the Guinness World Records for the Most Awards Won by a Short Film, officially entering into the records on May 20, 2022[5][6].

Early Life

Reddy was born in Kurnool. After graduating with a Bachelors degree in Engineering and working in an IT firm, he then enrolled in a film school in Hyderabad but dropped out to avoid being bound by the film theories. He later went on to pursue a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering at the University of Houston, Texas[7].

Career

Reddy started making his initial short films while pursuing his bachelors degree[8]. His short film, Hide and Seek (2016), earned a lot of recognition from within the industry[8]. He was approached by Sekhar Kammula's team, who were filming Fidaa at the time, to work as an Associate Director of the film[9]. After working on Fidaa, Reddy moved back to India to change his career as a filmmaker[9].

Apart from directing and writing, Reddy has been working with Weekend Cinema, a film distribution house, for the past few years distributing films such as K.G.F: Chapter 1, C/O Kancharapalem, Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, Kabir Singh, Vakeel Saab, and many more[9].

On March 28th, 2020, he released his latest work, Manasanamaha, a short film written and directed by him[10][11][12]. It went on to receive positive response and win over 500 awards in International Film festivals[13]. The film also received appreciation from celebrated filmmakers in the industry - such as Krish (director), Sukumar, D. Suresh Babu, Sandeep Vanga and Gautham Menon[7][14]. Following this, Menon went on to collaborate with Reddy to dub and release Manasanamaha in Tamil as Manasanamaha[15].
