Darlene M. Corbett is an American motivational speaker, life coach and author who specializes in changing mindset to improve performance and achieve greater results.[1][2] Corbett is the author of the book, Stop Depriving The World of You. She is a columnist and featured contributor of BizCatalyst 360.[3][4] Corbett was one of nine female motivational speakers featured in Tim Grable’s article, “Nine Amazing Speakers Who Will Challenge Your Guests” on The Grable Group and is a recipient of a fellowship from Boston University School of Social Work through Boston Children’s Hospital.[5][6]

Early life and education

Corbett was born and raised in Worcester, MA. She is the daughter of Dolores Corbett and Michael Corbett. Corbett is the oldest of two children. She completed her graduation in the year 1975 from Holy Name Central Catholic High School with high honors. She also got her Bachelor's degree of Science from Worcester State University in the year 1979 with the distinction of cum laude. She received her Associates Degree from Becker College in the year 1977. In the year 1980, she began studying for her Master’s degree in Social Work at Boston University, which was completed in the year 1982.[7]

Corbett was awarded a University affiliated fellowship from Boston University School of Social Work through Boston Children’s Hospital. She received a Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Clinical Social Work from Boston University. Corbett has a dual degree in Psychology and Urban Studies and she is a certified Hypnotherapist as well.[8]

Career

Corbett started her career as LICSW/Psychotherapist/Hypnotherapist & Partner at Needham Psychotherapy Associates in the year 1993. She provided long and short term psychotherapy often using Hypnosis for self esteem, anxiety, relationships, depression, chronic illness and disabilities.[9]

She is a solopreneur at UnStuck, which she started in 2016. Corbett is a member of the National Speakers Association of New England, Toastmasters International, the Wachusett Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Social Workers. She is also an approved Consultant in the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. She is on the Board of Directors of Abby’s House in Worcester, Massachusetts, which is known for providing shelter, affordable housing, advocacy and support services to homeless, and low-income women to lead self-directed lives filled with dignity and hope.[10][11]

She wrote a book, Stop Depriving The World of You: A Guide for Getting Unstuck[12] which was published by Sound Wisdom in November 2018.[13] She developed her own podcast, Tap Into The Power of U, It is for women 40+ who wish to get unstuck and the men who wish to join them. The podcast is weekly and is a combination of guests and solo episodes. It is available on leading platforms like iTunes, iHeartRadio, Spotify and Stitcher.[14][15]
