Joseph Donato also known as, DJ Shortkutz, is an Italian-American DJ and entrepreneur. He is best known for his unique performances at music festivals, high-profile fashion, music, corporate, charity, and private events.[1] DJ Shortkutz is a highly acclaimed DJ with over 20 years of experience who has gained recognition for employing the open format, witty commentary, and electric energy in his performances.

DJ Shortkutz has worked with a number of celebrity artists such as Rihanna, Tiesto, Drake, Kim Kardashian, Justin Bieber and others. He has also performed for a prolific clientele being the premier DJ in St Barthelemy for tastemakers around the world aboard their mega-yachts and private villas. He was recently featured on Season 1, Episode 2 in the UK on Channel 5’s newest documentary “Playgrounds of The Rich & Famous.” Some major brands including MTV, ABC, Grey Goose, ESPN, and Valentino to name a few have all booked Shortkutz to perform. DJ Shortkutz’s talents are not limited to the country and have even showcased them internationally with his performances in Mexico, Panama, Japan, Bahamas, South Africa, Dubai, China, and throughout the Caribbean.[2]

DJ Shortkutz is regarded as one of the leading DJs in New York City and is often seen playing at the city’s most exclusive venues like Tao, Marquee, Up & Down, 10AK, Lavo and others. He has been listed the "Top 40 under 40 Entrepreneurs" by the Westchester Business Council.[3] He has even been listed in multiple media outlets including the NY Post, The Daily News, FOX 5 Television, TMZ, US Weekly, and on-air on NYC’s WQHT HOT 97 FM Radio.[4]

Early life and education

DJ Shortkutz was born in Port Chester, NY, to Nanci Donato and Victor Donato Jr. He grew up with a brother and completed his high school education at Iona Prep High School. In 1999, DJ Shortkutz enrolled in Manhattanville College, where he pursued a bachelor’s degree in Business with a concentration in Managerial Economics. Throughout his four year collegiate career, DJ Shortkutz was also the point guard for the men’s basketball team.

Career

DJ Shortkutz began his career in the early 2000s and has been focused on making music that connects with his audiences ever since. He's been invited to play in practically every major city in the United States throughout the course of his career, including Miami, Houston, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Atlanta, to name a few.[5]

DJ Shortkutz is known for his ability to captivate a crowd with heavy involvement and upbeat dialogue. He has performed at numerous important events for brands such as Nike, Pepsi, Sony, Christian Dior, and the Tao Group to mention a few. DJ Shortkutz has been in the entertainment field for over 20 years now and has played for some of the biggest names in the music industry which include: Nas, Jamie Foxx, Enrique Iglesias, Fat Joe, Jason Derulo, 50 Cent, Miley Cyrus and others.

As of 2021, DJ Shortkutz is a resident DJ for the longest-running party in NYC history “TUESDAY BABY TUESDAY” at TAO Nightclub. He is also a bi-monthly resident at CASA Nightclub and Lil Rock Beachclub in St Barths as well as various Las Vegas Nightclubs.
