Christopher Bryde (born April 2, 1988) is an American film producer, writer, director, and retired U.S. Marine Corporal. He is the director at Strawberry Hill Productions and an NHS volunteer responder at the Royal Voluntary Service.[1][2]

Bryde is known for producing drama and adventure movies. He is best known for his directorial debut film, “The Forgotten Battalion,” released in 2020.[3][4]

Biography

Bryde was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska.

Military service

In 2007, Bryde joined the U.S. Marine Corps as an infantry machine gunner during the Global War on Terrorism. In 2012, he retired from his military service as a Marine Corporal. During his 5 years of service, Bryde won several awards, including the Purple Heart, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Service Star, NATO Medal, and a certificate of appreciation from the President, Barack Obama.[5]

Education

After retiring from his military service, Bryde joined Portland Community College, graduating in 2019 with an associate degree in science, an associate's in general studies, a focus award in creative writing, and Phi Theta Kappa membership.[6]

In 2019, Bryde moved to London, England, and enrolled in a Creative and Professional Writing BA (Hons) program at St Mary's University, Twickenham, London. While at St. Mary's, he founded the St. Mary's University Fishing Society and became a patron of Shakespeare's Globe. After graduating with a bachelor’s in 2022, Bryde obtained an MA in creative writing from the same institute and is working on his PhD. Recently, the United States Marine Corps selected Bryde to compete in Nordic skiing, swimming, rowing, and wheelchair rugby at the Vancouver Whistler 2025 Invictus Games.ref>"1,000th track chair recipient Christopher J. Film director and producer

Bryde’s directorial debut, “The Forgotten Battalion,” was a documentary about his Marine light infantry unit, the 2nd Battalion, and the 7th Marines (2/7), released on November 24, 2020. The film was made in conjunction with a film team from Winter State Entertainment and director Dr. Mark A. Smith, and was distributed by Gravitas Ventures.[8][9]

Over the years, Bryde has directed and produced several short films and TV series, such as “Southern Bois in London,” “Fishing Society,” "Society Adventures," and "Venator."[10][11]

Bryde is also the director of Strawberry Hill Productions, an independent production label producing content based on history, the present, and the future.[12][13]
