A business school is a school of business administration or management that is affiliated with a university and awards degrees in such fields. A business school is also referred to as a school of management, management school, school of business administration, or more informally as a b-school or biz school. Other names for a business school include these. Accounting, administration, business analytics, strategy, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, human resource management, management science, management information systems, international business, logistics, marketing, sales, operations management, organizational psychology, organizational behavior, public relations, research methods, real estate, and supply chain management are some of the subjects that are typically covered in a business school's curriculum.

The utilization of real-world examples, or case studies, is central to the curriculum at several business schools (i.e. the case method). Since over one hundred years ago, case studies have been included in both the graduate and undergraduate levels of business education. Case studies are historical accounts that describe real instances that occurred in business. Information is often offered regarding a company's goods, markets, competitors, financial structure, sales volumes, management, staff, and other elements that influence the success of the company. A business case study may be as little as two or three pages or as long as thirty pages or even more in certain cases.

The Harvard Business School, INSEAD, London Business School, Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, Richard Ivey School of Business at The University of Western Ontario, Darden School at the University of Virginia, IESE, and other academic institutions, as well as case clearing houses, are common sources from which business schools obtain case studies (such as The Case Centre). The most well-known case studies produced by Harvard are those of Lincoln Electric Company and Google Inc.
