Bailey's CBD is a health and wellness brand launched in 2017 that focuses on offering CBD products specifically curated for the needs of pets. The company is best known for its CBD oils and treats for calming, mobility, and wellness support. Bailey's CBD, since its inception, has grown to become the leading supplier of Veterinarian tested and certified CBD products in the US. Its products are also available in Japan, Panama, and Puerto Rico.[1]

The idea behind establishing this wellness brand was to make CBD products available for pet owners as well as educate them on the benefits that come along with these products. Following the same vision, the company also gained recognition for its self-published book titled CBD For Dogs: A Practical Guide For Dog Owners In Need, released in 2019. This book has been a mainstay for educating dog owners about CBD for dogs and how important it may be for preventative wellness, in addition to its potential advantages in the treatment of pain, inflammation, anxiety, tumors, and other conditions.[2]

History

Bailey's CBD was established in 2017 by Jay O'Keefe III and Aaron Argueta in Costa Mesa, CA. The company is named after Jay's dog, Bailey. Born in 2011, Bailey the pug was rescued by John O'Keefe III and his wife, Jennifer O'Keefe, now serving as both the brand's namesake and the brand face. Jay had worked as the manager of a compassionate-use medical cannabis dispensary in Vista, California, for almost ten years before opening Bailey's. During that time, he gained experience in cannabis cultivation, extraction, and manufacturing.[3]

After the success of his first product, CBD oil, Jay partnered with Dr. Robert J. Silver, DVM, for veterinarian support and Aaron Argueta for business development support to start the brand. The company became one of the first pet-focused CBD brands in the industry, making only pet items.[4]

In 2016, Bailey's launched with less than $1,000 in startup costs. On October 27, 2017, the company formally incorporated as an LLC in the state of California. Before relocating to a 1000-square-foot facility in Signal Hill, California, in 2018, Bailey's was first based out of founder Jay O'Keefe's house. By selling at direct-to-customer pet events and conducting business-to-business transactions with Ocanna Distribution, Bailey's was able to increase its brand recognition and financial success at the time.[5]

In 2018 the company moved its headquarters to 2930 Grace Ln, Unit J, in Costa Mesa, California. Within a year, the company developed a business worth $500,000. In 2019, the company started its "Rescue of the Month" initiative, where it dedicated itself to donating one bottle of CBD oil for every four items sold online to a partnered rescue in need.

Bailey's launched Bailey's CBD JP, their Japan brand and distribution, in January 2020. This subsidiary soon became well-known in Tokyo and the surrounding areas. It is now the most popular CBD product for pets in Japan.
