Ayat Abuznade (born June 24, 1987) is a Palestinian American humanitarian and philanthropist.[1] She is the founder of Global Team 4 Humanity, a non-profit organization providing emergency aid and relief services to children, women, and refugees in Morocco, Turkey, Pakistan, Ukraine, Afghanistan, and Lebanon.[2][3][4]
Early life and education
Abuznade was born in Chicago on June 24, 1987, to Palestinian-American parents. She received degrees in multiple fields, including dentistry, psychology, and public health.
Career
In 2014, Abuznade volunteered at the Zaatari Refugee Camp, the world's largest camp for Syrian refugees.[5]
In 2015, Abuznade traveled to Lesbos, Greece, to volunteer at the Mória Refugee Camp.[5]
In 2019, Abuznade founded Team Humanity USA after her experiences while volunteering at the Zaatari Refugee Camp in 2014. In 2023, it was renamed to Global Team 4 Humanity.[6] With the recent war between Ukraine and Russia, Team Humanity USA is on the ground helping women and children by giving out essential items for survival.[7]
In 2022, Team Humanity USA, visited Pakistan to carry out relief work in flood-affected areas.[8]
Awards and recognitions
Abuznade has been nominated for prestigious awards, including the Anthem Awards Gold and Anthem Awards Silver, for humanitarian product and service leadership.[3]
