Almohanad Almarwai is a well-known figure in the coffee industry, a serial entrepreneur, educator, and a public speaker. He is the co-founder and CEO of the Arabian Coffee Institute,[1] a team of professionals and researchers that offers education on all facets of the coffee value chain and provides globally approved training courses. He is also the co-founder and CEO of Coffee Lights Holding, and AgriNexus Ltd.[2]

Almohanad is an accredited coffee grader and one of only 30 licensed coffee graders in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He is also one of Saudi Arabia's 36 authorized trainers in the coffee industry. His entrepreneurial endeavors and contributions to Saudi Arabia and Uganda coffee industries have made him a globally renowned and acknowledged figure in the sector.[3]

Almohanad has also mentored and trained thousands of leaders in the coffee sector and entrepreneurship, making him a highly sought-after speaker and mentor.

Education

Almohanad holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Business and Technology in Jeddah. He has also earned three master's degrees, which include an MBA in multimedia from the University of Malaysia (2009), an MBA in business and entrepreneurial studies from the Prince Mohammed bin Salman College of Business and Entrepreneurship (2018), and a master's degree in business and entrepreneurial studies from Babson College in Massachusetts (2018).In 2018, Almarwai earned a diploma in the coffee skills program from the Specialty Coffee Association in London, further solidifying his credentials in the coffee industry.

Currently, Almohanad is pursuing a master's degree in coffee excellence from the Zurich University of Applied Sciences and is expected to graduate in 2024.

Career

Almohanad has developed several successful businesses, including Golden Age, an IT company that builds and designs websites and applications; Trans4mix Ltd., a strategic consulting and management consultancy firm; and Inmaa Corp. Ltd., an Uganda-based residential construction firm.[4]

With organizations at the forefront of the coffee industry, Almarwai is making significant contributions to the growth of the coffee industry in Saudi Arabia and beyond. Over the past 12 years, he has established eight companies in several countries, including Saudi Arabia, Uganda, the UK, and the US.

In 2014, Almohanad founded AgriNexus Ltd., a Ugandan-based organic farming and production company that uses the Ugandan Community Supported Agriculture system to provide high-quality local and seasonal food directly from certified farmers' communities. Overcoming the challenges, AgriNexus Ltd. is now one of the 40 companies authorized to export coffee from Uganda to other countries.[5]

In 2018, Almohanad co-founded Coffee Lights Holding, where he currently serves as CEO. Coffee Lights specializes in various aspects of the industry, such as coffee shop operations, consultation, barista training, and import and export of coffee.[6]

In 2022, Almohanad founded the Arabian Coffee Institute.[7] The Institute comprises of a team of experts, researchers, and educators who possess a deep understanding of the entire coffee value chain, from seed to cup and beyond.[8] The institute is dedicated to providing top-notch training and education to coffee professionals, as well as supporting entrepreneurship in the industry. And is now ranked number one across KSA.[9]

Due to Almohanad's leadership of these companies, Saudi cafes can now provide the public with a transparent supply chain of authentic specialty coffee. Almohanad has worked in quality assurance and business consulting for over twelve years in the coffee sector, assisting and inspiring small enterprises to establish and achieve new heights.[10]

Almohanad is one of only 30 licensed coffee graders in the Saudi Arabia out of a total of 5,000 licensed coffee graders globally. He is also among the 36 certified trainers in Saudi Arabia's coffee industry and has trained and mentored over 2,000 leaders in the coffee sector and entrepreneurship.

In addition to being a well-known entrepreneur in the coffee industry, Almohanad is a licensed Jujutsu instructor, known for winning over seven local, Gulf, and international titles.
