Zane Smith[1] is an African-American musician and hip-hop artist. The rapper born Philip Larry Mincey[2] (on June 24, 1994) is from Lithonia, Georgia, a DeKalb County, Georgia|South DeKalb city just east of Atlanta. His musical career began in 2013, sophomore year as a college art student. As a result, several albums by the artist are named after and/or inspired by art and graphic design terms, colors, and principles.[3]

The artist began to receive notoriety in 2019, after his song "I'm Ballin" was used by the National Basketball Association|NBA, Women's National Basketball Association|WNBA, FIBA, ESPN and more.[4] Video highlights for the Milwaukee Bucks[5] & NBA MVP Finalists,[6] were released across social media using the artist's song. The NBA's partnership with record distributor UnitedMasters|United Masters made the synch possible.

In December 2020, United Masters announced Zane Smith's song "24 Hours" would be added to the NBA 2K21 in-game soundtrack.[7][8] As a winner of 2K Beats: The Search contest [9] created by NBA 2K and United Masters, ten artists songs would be added to the popular basketball video game.[10]
