Md. Zakir Hossain Akanda is a Former Secretary to the Government of People's Republic of Bangladesh, currently serving as the Managing Director of Small Farmers Development Foundation (SFDF), of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development & Cooperatives, Bangladesh [1][2][3][4][5].As a Secretary to the Government, he served at the Ministry of Planning as a Member of the Bangladesh Planning Commission, chaired by the Honourable Prime Minister [6] [7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14].

He was promoted to the rank of Secretary-in-Charge by the Government on 17th February, 2019 [15] [16], before being made a full Secretary on 4th August, 2019 [17][18][19][20].

Prior to being appointed as a Secretary, Zakir Hossain Akanda was an Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief [21][22][23]. Previously, he served as Joint Secretary, Deputy Secretary, and Senior Assistant Secretary, in various ministries and divisions.
