Yvette Vašourková is an architect and urbanist that works at CCEA MOBA in Prague, Czech Republic. Together with Igor Kovačević she started CCEA and studio MOBA in 2001.[1]

Education

Yvette was born in 1976 in Brno, Czechoslovakia.[1]

She started her architecture journey with studying her bachelors and masters in Architecture. She graduated in 2001 with her Masters in Architecture, majoring in Architecture and Spatial planning.[2] She continued on to her postgraduate studies from 2005- 2007 at the Berlage Institute in the Netherlands (ArchTV, 2022). During this time, she focused on contemporary urbanism in collaboration with the architects: Ben van Berkel, PVAureli, Winy Maas, and Elia Zenghelis.[3]

Work

Yvette has been a part of CCEA MOBA since 2001, which is located in the center of Prague. The Centre for Central European Architecture (CCEA) is a non-profit organization that works on defining what central European architecture is through research, projects, and workshops.[4] She also is involved with MOBA studio, which is an architectural platform she helped-co-found with Igor Kovačević, that works on projects related to the development of public spaces.[5]

Outside of studio work, Yvette is a guest critic at ETH Zurich, ARCHIP, and the Czech Technical University.[2] She is a part of the editorial board of ERA21- an architectural newspaper company- which was founded in 2007 (reSite, 2020).[6]

Big Deal

In 2008, Big Deal was a multimedia project that mapped different paths of success of the young generation of architects working in the Czech Republic (EARCH.cz, 2008). Yvette and CCEA MOBA were a part of the curatorial process as well as the exhibited participants.[7]

Magistrala- Open street

Yvette has been working on the Magistrala Open-street project from 2009-2013 to initiate work with local mayors to transform the Magistrala area for pedestrians (Volynsky, 2013).[8]

Awards

Architect of the Year Award Nomination

In 2016, Yvette and Igor were nominated as a team for the Architect of the year award in Czech Republic. The other nominees were: Michal Kuzemenský, Zdenek Sendler, Marcela Steinbachová, and Ivan Kroupa.[9]
