Witch Beam Games Pty Ltd (Witch Beam) is an independent video game developer based in Brisbane, Australia, with a focus on PC and console gaming. It was founded in 2013.

History

The founders include Tim Dawson, Sanatana Mishra, and Jeff van Dyck, who met while working at now defunct Creative Assembly|Sega Studios Australia. Dawson and Mishra left Sega to pursue independent video game development, and van Dyck joined afterward to provide audio design support. Wren Brier joined as a collaborator after the release of Assault Android Cactus and was the creative lead of Unpacking (video game). Additional collaborators include Seiji Tanaka[1] and Angus Doolan.

Witch Beam was 1 of 5 recipients of the 2018-19 Game Development and Marketing Investment Program funded by Screen Queensland Studios.[2]

The studio has emphasized Accessibility in development and have included a number of Mobility, Vision, Hearing, and Cognitive controls.[3]

Games

Prior to its founding, a iPhone and iPad puzzle game was released in 2009 titled Magic Chain under the Witch Beam name.[4]

Currently, the team is developing a new puzzle game titled Foolproof announced 2 July, 2020 which has also received Screen Queensland funding.[1] An additional game titled TemPoPo is listed on their website as coming soon.[5]
