Pastor Walter Oguamanam Zacheus (born July 15, 1958) is a Nigerian clergyman, author, and the founder and General Overseer of Old Time Faith Ministries, based in Port Harcourt, Rivers, Nigeria.
Early Life and Spiritual Journey
Walter Oguamanam Zacheus underwent a transformative spiritual experience in 1980, leading to his conversion to Christianity while studying at the School of Health Technology in Aba, Abia State. Shortly after, in 1982, he became the president of the Christian Union. Following his graduation and civil service posting, Pastor Walter initiated the establishment of Deeper Life Bible Church in Arondizuogu in 1983, where he served until 1985.
Educational Pursuits and Full-Time Ministry
In 1985, Zacheus pursued higher education at the University of Ile-Ife, actively participating in the Deeper Life Campus Fellowship. Post-graduation, he left civil service to dedicate himself to full-time ministry. Rising through the ranks, he became a District Pastor and was later appointed as a region overseer under Deeper Life Bible Church.
Founding Old Time Faith Ministries
Despite his success within Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor Walter felt a divine calling to establish Old Time Faith Ministries. Initially hesitant due to fear of societal judgment, he eventually embraced the vision. In 1998, he and his wife, the sole supporter of his vision, relocated to Rivers State, where they officially founded Old Time Faith Ministries in March 1999 at Niger Grammar School in Port Harcourt.
Early Struggles and Triumphs
The initial days of Old Time Faith Ministries were challenging, marked by financial difficulties and a sparse attendance of one person at the first meeting. Undeterred, the ministry persisted, moving to Orogbum Primary School in D/Line, Port Harcourt. Pastor Walter's wife, who had been running a private school in Afikpo, sold the school to support the ministry.
Spiritual Challenges and Resilience
Old Time Faith Ministries faced adversity, including attacks from familial sources, witchcraft incidents, and a commitment to resist worldliness within the church. Despite setbacks, Pastor Walter and his congregation persevered, experiencing deliverance and growth.
Literary Contributions
Pastor Walter Zacheus is also recognized for his literary contributions. He has authored numerous Christian books, addressing topics such as deliverance, prayer, childbearing, and spiritual nourishment. Some notable titles include "The Prayers That Counts," "600 Anointed Prayer Bullets Against Water Spirits," "Hope for the Barren," "Food for the Spirit," "I Believe in Deliverance," and "Church in the House."
Legacy
Pastor Walter Oguamanam Zacheus continues to lead Old Time Faith Ministries, impacting lives through his teachings and writings. His journey reflects a commitment to following divine guidance, overcoming challenges, and building a spiritual community.
