Vilma Mattila (born August 18, 1994) is a Dubai based serial entrepreneur, blockchain expert, angel investor, speaker, business strategist, growth hacker, and startup mentor.[1] Mattila has founded a number of companies including 5ireChain,[2] World Web3 Association, Node Kapital Venture Fund, 10x East, and UN1TY Ventures. She has invested in multiple blockchain and crypto startups which include Radom Network, Nodle, TRON Foundation, Qtum Foundation, Standard Protocol, Aleph Zero and several others.[3][4]

Born in Turku, Finland, Mattila is known for her polymath and autodidact approach based on data using foresight & systems thinking, that gives clients a competitive advantage over others. She also serves as a mentor at Techstars. Mattila is also a crypto enthusiast, who has invested in crypto properties since 2015 and has also worked closely with co-founder of Ripple.

Mattila also sits on a board for a number of startups and advises startups, innovation labs, and entrepreneurs on how to scale their business, create business strategies, growth hacking, and achieve goals. She was placed third in the 2019 European Innovation Academy Awards.

She has been often praised by media for her thought leadership, which has helped her clients gain six times more business leads while working with her in a few months.[5]

Early life

Mattila was born in Turku, Finland.[6] When she was 10 years old, her family decided to move to Spain. Mattila's early schooling was in Spain, where she attended Escuela Finlandesa, Colegio Maravillas, and IES Lagunas. She graduated with Honors and a Andalucia Province Award. In 2012, she moved to Madrid and joined Universidad Rey Juan Carlos to complete a double degree in Economics and Law.

After attending a few classes, she realized that she needs to move faster and attended Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia - U.N.E.D to complete her Licentiate degree of Law. In 2015, Mattila attended Guangzhou University for a course in Asian economic development and Chinese studies that covered Chinese Law, Chinese economic development as well as Chinese language and culture.

Mattila has completed an Associate of Science course with specialization in knowledge and technology management; Industry 4.0, which helped to know more about IoT, IIoT, Big Data, Cloud computing and other related IT subjects. In 2020, she attended Australian Online Courses to complete certification in Fintech and Financial Management Services. She won the Best Fintech Award there.

Career

After college, in 2016, Mattila joined European-American Chamber of Commerce - Cincinnati as a legal executive. She was responsible for providing legal guidance and advice, negotiated FDI contracts, worked closely with the local government and in addition, she represented the Chamber in Business Negotiations and Government Gatherings.[7][8]

Later in 2016, Mattila travelled to Malaysia where she was first introduced to crypto and digital currencies. She got inclined towards crypto and started working closely in Blockchain, Fintech and other emerging technologies. In a short span of time, she pioneered the blockchain and became a blockchain architect. Since then, she has worked with a number of companies as a blockchain advisor for blockchain implementation and invested in emerging technologies around the blockchain.[9]
