Vikramjeet Singh Middukhera or more commonly known as Vicky Middukhera was the former president of student organization "Students Of India" (SOI) which is affiliated to Shiromani Akali Dal. Middukhera was the leader of Youth Akali Dal a subset of Shiromani Akali Dal until his assassination on 7 August 2021.[1]
Early life and education
Middukhera was born in the village of Middu khera which is located in Sri Muktsar Sahib, Punjab on 27 July 1988. He went on to pursue his higher studies in the prestigious Panjab University|Punjab University in Chandigarh.[2]
Political Career
Vicky Middukhera became the president of Students Of India (SOI) after winning the university elections. SOI being affiliated to Shiromani Akali Dal as its student organization, Middukhera became a significant part of the party. He was very close to Sukhbir Singh Badal the now leader of Shiromani Akali Dal. Middukhera worked under the leadership of Badal and was also involved in Youth Akali Dal, which is a subgroup of the party.[1]
Assassination
On the morning of 7 August 2021, Vicky Middukhera was leaving from a place and walking towards his car when a bunch of masked assailants surrounded him and started shooting towards him, Middukhera tried to ran but unfortunately was gunned down nearby. He was shot numerous times and was pronounced dead on scene.[3]
