Van Alpert (born August 6, 1986), is an American filmmaker, music video director, artist and fashion designer. He has directed music videos for some of the world's most prominent artists from Post Malone to Machine Gun Kelly.
Early life
During Alpert's childhood, Alpert's family moved around a lot while his father Marc Alpert worked in Brazil. His family moved to Key Biscayne Florida after hurricane Andrew in August 1992.
Career
Early Career
At 19 years old Van was one of the youngest servers at Nobu in New York City. For 1 year he went to Pasadena Art Center on scholarship for Advertising at the night school program. Van practiced Graffiti around Miami as a teenager and started developing a painting style. He studied Drama in High School with an interest in acting.
Acting
Alpert left school early in Miami at 17 years old, and moved to New York City to briefly study acting at Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. Alpert acted in and directed student films in New York and in 2007 moved to Cuba to continue studying film and assistant-directed the documentary "Havana Surf".
Filmmaking
Van moved to LA in 2009 to pursue filmmaking and quickly joined the Art Department Local 44 for commercials while pursuing filmmaking. With a background in building sets and props, Van developed a distinctive style that mixed the street culture with his signature visual realism.

Skategoat

Van's feature film directorial debut "Skategoat" will be released in 2021, a film he worked on for over 10 years, documenting Venice Beach skater Leandre Sanders.[1][2]
Bolt Driver

Van wrote, produced, directed and edited the feature film BOLT DRIVER (2021) together with frequent collaborator and friend Nick Corirossi.[3]
Music Videos
Post Malone White Iverson
Van wrote, directed and edited the first Post Malone breakthrough music video with nearly a billion views world-wide.[4]
The Local Natives
In 2019 Van directed music videos for The Local Natives starring Kate Mara.
Machine Gun Kelly
In 2020 Van wrote and directed Machine Gun Kelly's "my ex's best friend" video with over 65 million views.[5]
Grace Gaustad
2021 Van Alpert directed (12) Music Videos and a short film for Grace Gaustad "BLKBX" Album.
Art
Black i
In October 2014 Van premiered his first solo art exhibition during Miami Art Basel titled "Black i".
i2i
From August 2015 to September 2015, Alpert premiered his second solo art exhibition at Sticks and Stones Gallery titled "i2i".[6][7]

Spring Breakers

In 2012 Van was commissioned to make custom Vans shoes for the Harmony Korine film Spring Breakers for Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens & Ashley Benson.
Family
He has a younger brother Aaron and older sister Rachel from mother Ingrid Schouten and his father Marc Alpert. Van also has 3 older brothers Ari, Brett, and Greg. His older brother Ari Alpert is a shoe designer and manufacturer and mother was a model from the Netherlands, Miss Holland 1981.[8] Van's aunt is Dutch comedian, actress and recording artist Tineke Schouten.
