Seebacher is known around the world for his leading management publications. He has a Ph.D. in Economics and Business Administration and holds a Prof. h.c. for his work in methods and structural science from California University. With his stringent engagement for sustainable organizational development using structures and methods, he helped many corporations to realize an impactful and efficient managerial practice. He is Executive Advisor and has more than 25 years of top management experience as consultant, manager and entrepreneur. Seebacher is internationally known for his innovative Template-based Management (TMB) approach, first published in 2003. This template based management can be used for any project. The problem-solving process is pre-structured using templates so that experts can solve any problem independently without external support. In this way, more than 50% of costs can be saved, projects can be implemented stringently and the organizational learning process can be optimized and secured in the long term.[1]
Early life
Both of Seebacher's parents, Bruno and Christine, are Austrians with long aristocratic roots in the former K&K monarchy and settled in Graz, where Seebacher was born on June 14, 1971. He studied at Karl-Franzens-University for two years and then moved to Vienna to get his Master's degree at the Vienna University of Economics and Business in 1994 and his PhD at the Institute of Technology (1996), earning both degrees in economics. He studied under the leading academics Robert Hackl, Wolfgang Bühler, Oscar Grün and Alfred Taudes. He wrote his doctoral thesis in the area of quality management in the area of financial services. He did several postdoctoral works at different universities in the area of leadership development, organizational development and methods and structural sciences. He was project leader of Quality Management Austria and started his career as Associate with ASP International in Vienna. He then joined the American Top-Management consulting firm Deloitte in Duesseldorf working for multinational clients such as Bayer, BASF, RWE and many others. During that time he published the first works in the area of management development Cyber Commerce Reframing[2] and also his first book on methods and structural sciences Template-based Management,[3] that has been republished only recently in 2020. This work since then influences his academic as well as practical work.
Scientific approach
Seebacher follows the theory of Nikolai Kondratiev with his Kondratiev waves and bis hypothesis of human beings becoming the weakest part in the entire economical and industrial development. This, as a consequence of the ever increasing level of process optimization, automation, digitization but also the growing mental and physical workload caused by lean management and layoff. In his books Corporate Mental Wellness[4] and Strategic Workforce Management[5] he provides concepts and tools for corporates to tackle these mental wellness challenges. His entire work is influenced by his origins in organizational sciences and human resources but also the works in the area of human ontogeny, the science about the holistic approach of the human being. He transferred this into the area of Organizational theory and applied it in the area of – until then rather mono-dimensional and qualitatively interpreted – marketing[6] and workforce management.[7] In the context of his work he then also facilitated the paradigm shift in the area of B2B Marketing with the publication of the standard textbook B2B Marketing – A Guidebook for the Classroom to the Boardroom (2021)[8] Seebacher in 2020 introduced the theory of the organizational etymology.[9] In application of his works in methods and structural sciences he significantly advanced the field of business intelligence through his work in the context of predictive intelligence[10]
