Urmikant Mody

Urmikant Prabhudas Mody (born October 1942) is a former Indian cricketer who played First-class cricket for Saurashtra cricket team, Tamil Nadu cricket team, and Mumbai cricket team, as well as the United States national cricket team. He was born in Rajkot, Gujarat, India.

Mody made his first-class debut for the Saurashtra cricket team in the 1965/1966 Ranji Trophy. Mody made over 10 first-class appearances, between 1965/66 and 1975/76. As a Bowling (cricket), Mody took 29 wickets in his 10 listed appearances, maintaining a bowling average of 23.34, with a Cricket statistics|BBI of 4|40.[1] Mody holds a 11.72 Batting average (cricket)|batting average, with a high score of 34.[1]

After emigrating from India to the United States, Mody would represent the United States national cricket team in the 1986 ICC Trophy, where he was the team's leading wicket-taker with 14.[2] He bowled a 3|69 against Papua New Guinea national cricket team|Papua New Guinea on June 13,[3] a 2|12 against Hong Kong national cricket team|Hong Kong on June 23,[4] a 5|23 against Gibraltar national cricket team|Gibraltar on June 25th,[5] and a 4|34 against Israel national cricket team|Israel on June 27,[6] en route to a 9.86 bowling average in the tournament, which was good for fourth best in the tournament.[7]

In 2021, Mody was recognized by the Northern California Cricket Association with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
