The University of Leicester is a public research institution that can be found in Leicester, which is located in the country of England. The primary campus is located to the south of the downtown area, just close to Victoria Park. University of Leicester was established in 1957 when its predecessor, University College, Leicester, was granted university status.

In the 2019/20 academic year, the university brought in a total revenue of 323.1 million pounds, with research grants accounting for 57 million of that total.

Both the discovery and the attribution of King Richard III's remains to the correct individual were accomplished at this institution, which is why it is so well-known for these two achievements.
