Umesh Pant (born July 20, 1988) is an List of Hindi-language authors, travel writer.[1][2], journalist and story writer[3]. He has written travelogues Innerline Pass[4] and Door Durgam durust[5]. Some of his stories also published in Storywallah[6][7] and anthology published by Penguin Books|Penguin India. He is the Founder-Editor of Hindi travel website Yatrakaar. He has also written several stories for the famous Indian storytelling shows Yaadon Ka Idiot Box|Yaadon Ka Idiot Box with Neelesh Misra on 92.7 BIG FM and 'The Neelesh Misra Show on Red FM 93.5[8].

Education

Brought up in Gangolihat, Uttarakhand, Umesh completed his primary education in Gangolihat and Pithoragarh. He graduated in Creative Writing from the Hindi department of Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi and did his post graduation from A.J.K. Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi.

Career

After starting out as an associate screenplay writer at Balaji Telefilms in 2011, Umesh switched to radio and has written over 50 stories for the radio show Yaadon ka Idiot Box with Neelesh Misra on 92.7 Big FM, Qisson ka Kona on JioSaavn, and The Neelesh Mishra Show on Red FM 93.5[9]

Some of his short stories (translated from Hindi) appeared in the English anthology ‘Storywallah[10]’ edited by Neelesh Misra[11] and published by Penguin India.

He has also written for the app 'Storytel'[12]

He has worked as a roving writer in Gaon Connection, India's first rural newspaper, and traveled across the hinterlands of Uttar Pradesh.

Umesh’s editorials and features have also been published in leading Hindi newspapers and websites such as Hindustan (newspaper), Navbharat Times[13], Dainik Jagran[14], News18 India|News 18, Newslaundry[15], Inext|I-next[16] and The Lallantop[17] etc.

His latest book is Door Durgam Durust published by Rajkamal Prakashan Samooh[18] in January 2020.

Innerline Pass[19]

Innerline Pass (इनरलाइन पास)[20] [21] [22] [23] is travelogue based on the Adi Kailash|Aadi Kailash and Om Parvat trek in Uttarakhand. This book was among the best 5 Hindi non fiction books of 2016-17 by Femina (India)|Femina Hindi[24].

Door Durgam Durust

Door Durgam Durust (दूर दुर्गम दुरुस्त)[25] is a travelogue of different areas of Northeast India including Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, and parts of Assam.
