Troels Lund (born Troels Lund Christensen, 20 August 1974) is a Danish director. He has directed multiple productions of the Eurovision Song Contest and the Danish version of X Factor. He has worked with international artists such as Take That, Aqua and Lukas Graham.
Life and career
Lund was born in Aarhus, Denmark. He went to public school in the Aarhus neighborhood of Risskov and trained to become an electrician at Aarhus Tech (known then as Aarhus Technical School) from 1990-1994. He continued his training at Copenhagen Technical College from 1997-2001, specializing in film and tv production, earning the title of AV assistant.
In 1997, Lund started an apprenticeship as a producer and director at the Danish entertainment company Nordisk Film, which is one of the oldest film studios in the world.[1] He completed the apprenticeship in 2001 and continued working for Nordisk Film until 2005.
In 2005, he formed his own company, Lundfilm ApS, specializing in multi-camera productions and everything from talk shows to large-scale live events.
He has directed multiple seasons of Danish X Factor[2], including 2011 final, which took place at Parken, the Danish national stadium, and featured two performances by Take That. It was witnessed by more than 40,000 people and was the biggest X Factor final anywhere in the world at the time[3]. Through his work for X Factor, he has also directed performances by artists such as Aqua and Lukas Graham.
In 2014, when Eurovision Song Contest took place in Denmark, Lund was the multi camera director of the show[4], and he scripted all performances[5]. For this production, he spearheaded the use of automation software CuePilot[6]. His work for Eurovision Song Contest also includes being the director of the Kiev production in 2017, where Lund also scripted all performances[2][7], and the Portugal production in 2018, for which he was senior multi camera director[8].
In Denmark, Lund has been the director of multiple productions of Dansk Melodi Grand Prix[9], the annual music competition that determines the country's representative for the Eurovision Song Contest. In 2020, the event took place at Royal Arena in Copenhagen without an audience due to the COVID-19 crisis[10]
Additionally, he has directed P3 Guld, an annual music award show in Denmark produced and transmitted by DR (broadcaster)|DR, the Danish Broadcasting Corporation, as well as the annual sports gala show Sport, also produced and transmitted by DR.
