Tim Levene (born 1 October 1973) is a British venture capitalist and entrepreneur.[1]. He is Co-Founder and CEO of Augmentum Fintech[2] and was on the founding teams of Flutter.com (1999) and Crussh Juice Bars (1998)[3]. Levene was elected in the City of London as an Alderman in the Ward of Bridge in 2022[4].

Education

Levene attended The City of London School[5] and then studied at the University of Manchester where he graduated with a BA (Hons) in Russian Studies in 1994.

Augmentum Fintech plc

Augmentum invests in fast growing fintech businesses that are disrupting the financial services sector. Augmentum is the UK’s only publicly listed investment company focusing on the fintech sector in the UK and wider Europe, having launched on the main market of the London Stock Exchange in 2018[10], giving businesses access to patient capital and support, unrestricted by conventional fund timelines and giving public markets investors access to a largely privately held investment sector during its main period of growth.

Notable investments led by Levene include interactive investor[11] (acquired by abrdn for £1.5bn in 2022[12]), Cushon[13] (acquired by NatWest Group in 2023[14]), Zopa[15], Tide[16], iwoca[17] and Monese[18].

City of London Involvement

Since 2017, Levene has been both a current and former member of The City of London Finance Committee[21], Investment Committee[22], Financial Investment Board[23] and Digital Services Committee[24].

Since 2020, he has been the Chair of the Board of Governors at City of London School[25]. He is a trustee of the City of London Charitable Trust[7] and the City of London Bursary Trust[7] which were set up to promote the provision of transformative bursaries. In 2022, 13% of new entrants to the City of London School were on 100% fully funded bursaries[26].

Elected as a Common Councillor (independent) for the Bridge (ward) in 2017 and re-elected for a second term in 2022[27].

Elected in the City of London as an Alderman in the Ward of Bridge in July 2022[28] and is the President of the Bridge Ward Club[29].

A Freeman, Liveryman of The Carmen[7] and The Fishmongers Company[7].

Other Activities

Supported the launch of The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in 2012 and was Chair of their Digital Board until 2017[30].

Levene was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2012[6].

Family

Son of The Lord Levene of Portsoken, former Chairman of Lloyd's of London (2003-2011) and Lord Mayor of London (1998-1999), and Lady Wendy Levene. Residing in London, Levene is married to Katie and has three children.
