Tilak Mehta (born 2006) is an Indian entrepreneur known for his innovative contributions to the logistics sector.[1] Mehta rose to prominence at a young age as the founder of Paper n Parcels, an online platform specializing in same-day delivery services.[2][3]

Mehta’s dedication to entrepreneurship and his commitment to empowering others have made him a notable figure in the business world. In 2018, he became the youngest recipient of the Forbes Leadership Award and received the Global Child Prodigy Award in 2020.[4][5]

Early life and education

Mehta was born in 2006 into a Gujarati family to his parents, Vishal Mehta and Kajal Mehta. He has a twin sister named Tanvi Mehta. Mehta attended the Garodia International Centre for Learning in Mumbai.

In 2023, Mehta completed his International Baccalaureate Diploma at Aditya Birla World Academy. He is pursuing his higher education at the University of Southern California, with a focus on artificial intelligence for business. He has enrolled in programs offered by the Marshall School of Business and the Viterbi School of Engineering.

Career

Mehta started his entrepreneurial journey while in 8th grade when he founded Paper n Parcels, inspired by a need for urgent same-day delivery services. The idea stemmed from a personal experience where he urgently required his books for exams but faced challenges with existing delivery services.[6] This led to the inception of 'Paper n Parcels,' an online platform specializing in shipping and logistics services tailored for businesses. Mehta's company offers a range of services, including parcel tracking, order management, and shipping insurance, with a focus on cost-effectiveness and efficiency.[7][8]

Mehta drew inspiration from Mumbai's dabbawalas for their speedy and cost-effective delivery model and collaborated with them to offer economical parcel delivery services. With initial financial support from his father and strategic collaboration with the dabbawalas, Mehta established Paper n Parcel in 2018.[9][10]

Since its inception in 2018, Paper n Parcels has grown significantly, achieving a turnover exceeding Rs 100 crore. The company has over 200 direct employees and 300 Dabbawalas, collectively managing 1200 deliveries daily. Mehta's uncle, Ghanshyam Kumar, is the current CEO of Paper n Parcels.[11] Under Kumar's leadership, the company continues to expand its operations, maintaining its commitment to providing efficient shipping and logistics services.[12]

On February 23, 2020, Paper n Parcels was acquired by a multinational corporation.[13][14]

Mehta actively engages with audiences on social media, sharing insights from his entrepreneurial journey to inspire other young individuals.[15] He has also been invited as a TEDx speaker, sharing his expertise and experiences in the business world with aspiring entrepreneurs globally.[16][17]
