Tamish Pulappadi (born August 1, 2003) is an Indian singer, songwriter, and guitarist.[1] He became well-known after the release of the EP "Reflection" - composed, arranged, produced, recorded, and released by him.[2] He was awarded the title of young artiste of the year and featured in several leading publications, including Rolling Stone[3] and The Score Magazine.[4][5]

Early life and education

Pulappadi was born in Bangalore, India. Since a young age, he has been influenced by Slash, the lead guitarist of Guns N' Roses, and has developed an interest in the guitar. He spent the subsequent years taking private lessons on the instrument. At 12, Pulappadi earned an A* in the online “Steve Vai Advanced Guitar Technique” course taught by Scotty Johnson of Berklee College of Music.[6]

Pulappadi studied at the Ryan Global School, Kundalahalli. He is pursuing further education at Stanford University, where he studies Computer Science and Music, graduating in 2026.

Career

In 2014, Pulappadi began posting guitar cover videos on YouTube. At the same time, Pulappadi was identified by famed rock music photographer Robert M. Knight. Robert, impressed by Pulappadi's rendition of Taurus Bulba by Steve Vai, offered to share the cover with Vai himself and gave Pulappadi membership in the Brotherhood of the Guitar, the most prestigious group for young prodigy guitarists in the world.[7] Due to his abilities, Pulappadi is also the youngest and only Indian brand ambassador for Ernie Ball Music Man, one of the world's largest American guitar manufacturers.[8][9]

At 16, Pulappadi composed, arranged, produced, recorded, and released an instrumental five-track EP titled "REFLECTION." He has been performing live since he was 11 and has had the opportunity to play at several huge concerts.[10] Additionally, he has received over a million views on his social media channels and has learned and collaborated with renowned musicians such as Munyungo Jackson (Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder), Louis Van Taylor (Kool and the Gang, Ray Charles), Nick Smith (Stevie Wonder, Stanley Clarke), Dean Brown on guitar (Billy Cobham, Eric Clapton), Jason Leopold (Melanie Faye) and Logan Ellis Sheppard(Paul Reed Smith, Bunny Brunel).

Pulappadi has explored various musical genres, from Blues to Technical Metal, while focusing primarily on jazz fusion.[11] Memorizing and understanding these recordings from multiple genres has shaped his musical preferences and guitar style.[12]
