Tado Jurić (Orašje, July 27, 1979) is Professor of Demography, Political Science and History at the Catholic University of Croatia[1][2] and external associate of the Faculty of Croatian Studies at the Department of Demography.[3][4] He is the author of several monographs in the field of demography.
Biography
Tado Jurić received his Doctor of Philosophy in Political Science from the University of Friedrich-Alexander Nürnberg-Erlangen and Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich in 2012 with the dissertation: “Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Croatia on the Way to the EU” (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Croatia on the Road to full EU membership - a comparative analysis of statehood development and the process of Europeanization ”) (mentors: Prof. Dr. Heiner Bielefeldt, UN Commissioner for Human Rights and Prof. Dr. Marie-Janine Calic, Dean of the Historicum LMU Munich).[5]
He graduated in 2003 in German Language and Literature and History at the Faculty of Philosophy in Osijek, University of Osijek|Josip Juraj Strossmayer University. He completed his postgraduate studies in Advanced Master of European Studies in 2008 at the J. J. Strossmayer University in Osijek and the University of Karlsruhe.[6]
The first and second state exams for teaching in public schools in Bavaria,Germany, II. degree (high school) for the subjects German language and literature and history (Munich 2015/2016).
He published the first empirical research on contemporary Croatian emigration in 2017[7] and over 40 scientific papers in German, English and Croatian.[8]
As a regional expert, he was quoted in numerous European, Croatian and regional media: The Guardian, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Deutsche Welle, Le Monde, Kleine Zeitung, DPA, Globus, Večernji list, Jutarnji list, HRT ... [9]
He worked in Bavaria from 2009 to 2013 as a coordinator of Croatian teaching abroad. Since 2015, he has been a professor of demography, political science and history at the Croatian Catholic University and an external associate of the Faculty of Croatian Studies at the Department of Croatian Emigration and Demography.
In 2021 he was elected a senior research associate in the interdisciplinary field of social sciences / humanities: Political Science / History, and in 2022 in the field of demography. Areas of scientific work are Digital Demography, Digital Humanities, Big Data, migration from Croatia and Southeast Europe.[10]
