Sukia Akiba is a Boston-based real estate developer, environmentalist, and financial literacy educator.[1][2] Akiba has over a decade’s experience in the financial sector and has gained recognition for offering bespoke financial planning services to both business owners, professionals, and individuals in Boston and the surrounding areas.[3]

Akiba is also a social activist and environmentalist who is known for her firm advocacy for women’s health.[4] She currently serves on several advisory boards of United Children of Nigeria Inc, Eloise Hylton Inc, Green Cambridge, she is also the Governor of the U.S chapter of the National Edo Progressive Youth Association.[5]

Early life and education

Akiba was born on November 19th, 1985 to Tammy and Emmanuel Omere in Birmingham, Alabama. She found her passion for finance upon graduating from college. Initially, she lived in a rat-infested studio apartment in Boston and was not happy with the conditions or the cost of living. Her desire to better her situation pushed her to invest financially. She made use of her research abilities and good credit score to become the family's first property owner. Sukia had purchased multiple homes by the age of 22 and has subsequently taught many people how to do the same.

Akiba later graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice. She also has a Master's Degree in Global Health Policy from Brandeis University's Heller School and an MBA.

Career

Akiba started her career in 2009 when she established The Soul Supplier Inc.,[6] a company that provides customized financial strategies that teach clients how to create wealth through real estate.[7] She has successfully helped hundreds of people attain financial freedom by incorporating a client-focused approach to wealth building.[8][9]

In 2020 she founded United Children of Nigeria Inc., which focuses on delivering quality education by building affordable schools in Lagos, Nigeria.[10] Akiba also co-founded Eloise Hylton which focuses on establishing community centers in low-income areas in Kingston, Jamaica.[11]

Awards

Akiba received the Outstanding Community Leader award from the Heller School at Brandeis University. She also received a citation from her senator for her impressive community engagement.

Personal life

Akiba is a world traveler and has visited over 50 countries and six continents. She is fluent in English, Edo, and Patois.
