Dr. Suchethan Rangaswamy is a Carnatic musician from India, Veena player, actor and founder of Sumadhura Education And Cultural Trust in Bangalore.[1] He also serves as the official mentor on Zee Kannada Sa Re Ga Ma Pa|Zee Kannada's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa show.[2]

Background and Personal Life

Dr. Suchethan Rangaswamy was born on June 18, 1979, in Bengaluru, Karnataka.[3] to G Rangaswamy, and Carnatic classical musician Suma Rangaswamy. He attended Sri Vani Education Centre in Rajajinagar, Bangalore, and graduated from M.S. University with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Dr. Rangaswamy graduated from the University of Swahili with a PhD in Voice Culture.[4]

He lives in Bengaluru, Karnataka, with his wife Sindhu Suchethan, a noted Carnatic vocalist and violinist.[5]

Career

Rangaswamy was born into a musical family, and his mother Suma Rangaswamy taught him Carnatic music when he was four years old. His parents, being art lovers, encouraged and supported his musical endeavours by arranging for him to study with renowned musicians such as Vid. Sarvamangala Shankar, Vid. P. Ramaa, and Vid. M.S. Vidya. Rangaswamy had additional training from Vid. R.K. Srikantan and Vid. P. Unnikrishnan to further improve his talents.[6]

Rangaswamy began learning to play the Veena, a South Indian classical string instrument, under Vid. T. Sharada and Vid. Suma Sudhindra to supplement his vocal training.[7]

Rangaswamy began performing in his early teens and has since appeared at a variety of venues and events around the world, including the All India Radio National Youth Festival, Nadaneeranjanam at TTD, Academy of Music in Bangalore, Karnataka Ganakala Parishat, Narada Gana Sabha in Chennai, Hampi Festival, Bangalore International Arts Festival, Tarangini Festival in Chennai, Ananya in Bangalore, and AKKA.Jim Ankan Deka, Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy, Vyjayanthi Kaashi, Veena Murthy, and Dr. Sanjay Shantaram are among the musicians with whom he has worked, as well as popular music labels like as Lahari Music, Jhankar Music, and Ashwini Recording Company.

For the past 15 years, Rangaswamy has trained musicians and instrumentalists all over the world through the Sumadhura Education and Cultural Trust, and he continues to mentor students and give voice culture seminars all around the world.[8]

Suchethan Rangaswamy received his doctorate in Voice Culture from the University of Swahili.[9]

Other Work

Rangaswamy is an outstanding anchor and television soap opera actor in addition to being a musician. Mukta Mukta, Chitralekha, Putta Gowri Maduve, Maha Parva, Anuraagasangama, and Naagini are among his films.[10]

In addition, he has produced and hosted a number of stage plays and events, including the Bangalore International Arts Festival and the Tarangini Festival.[11]

Some of his students have excelled in the fields of singing and music.[12]
