Stiltz Ltd (Stiltz Elevator) was established on 14th of September 2010 as a private limited company in Reading, Berkshire England by two Australians. They identified a gap in the global home lift market for a compact, self-supporting Home automation for the elderly and disabled persons who couldn’t or wouldn’t use a stairlift. As the aging population continues to increase Global, it was clear an untapped Total addressable market and reflected the desire for Old age instead of moving to Nursing home.

Early Days (2010 -2013)

The United Kingdom was chosen as the preferred base for Stiltz due to the high volume of 2-storey properties, the number of Pensioner and the fact the Target market location could be used as a springboard into Europe. Early assistance was received from the then UK Trade and Investment (now Department for International Trade), in conjunction with the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA).

1st Generation Products

The original Stiltz Home lift was the Duo[1]. This was a solid-sided car which traveled on the company’s signature two freestanding rails using a self-contained drive system powered by a traction motor and Wire rope spooling technology. This was, and still remains, different to any other Elevator or wheelchair lift and contained many of the safety features[2] the company was to become known for.

Following enquiries for a lift suitable for wheelchair users, the company developed the Trio. The Trio ThruCar variant is especially relevant as it features a unique attribute; doors installed on opposing Dumbwaiter. Users can enter and exit the car in the same direction. This is useful for those in a wheelchair. As the range grew, this original lift would become the Classic, the entry-level model. A clear-sided variant, the Vista was also produced in this suite of products. International Export. Early exclusive Partnership were developed with key Business partner in Australia, France[3] and Holland[4].

Expansion (2014 to 2017)

Moving into Business development, Stiltz achieved further expansion in the Germany market by partnering with Liftstar; Germany’s largest Mobility aid. Also in 2014, Stiltz opened a United States office backed by a local market Stiltz website[5]. In 2015 a sales office was established in Guiseley in West Yorkshire and due to rapid growth in 2016, the Headquarters was relocated to The Pensnett Estate in Kingswinford. Export was identified as key to business growth, in addition to [6] in Cologne, Germany and the USA office in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania smaller distributors in New Zealand[7], The Philippines[8], India[9], Kenya[10] and Malaysia were added.

2nd Generation Products

In 2016 the Duo+ (Duo Alta[11] in the USA) was New product development as the Premium pricing top-of-the-range model. The Duo+ was designed to be a more attractive, premium product and the colourway and styling reflected this. In 2017 the Trio+[12] (Trio [13]Alta in the USA) was introduced. This product was a larger, fully wheelchair-accessible[14] home lift and included a ramped floor to make entrance and exit easier, plus an automatic door option. In mid-2019 a 6m travel Trio+[15] came to market meaning for the first time a Stiltz Homelift could travel over 3 floors.
