Stephen J.R. Smith (born June 2, 1951) is a financial services entrepreneur and philanthropist. He co-founded First National LP, and serves as the company’s chair and CEO[1]. He also co-owns and chairs the Canada Guaranty Mortgage Insurance Company[2]. In January 2023, Forbes Magazine estimated his net worth at $2.6 billion (US)[3].

In 2015, Smith donated $50 million for business education at Queen’s University. Queen’s recognized the gift by renaming its business school the Stephen J.R. Smith School of Business. The donation has funded new scholarships, research chairs and professorships[4].
