South Ural State University (SUSU), located in Chelyabinsk, is a university that can be found in the country of Russia. It is ranked as one of the top 10 universities in all of Russia by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, and it is the biggest university in Russia in terms of the number of students enrolled in its undergraduate programmes.

It received a ranking of 1,001+ in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2021, a ranking of 801–1000 in the QS World University Rankings 2022, a ranking of 901–1000 in the Three University Missions Ranking 2021, and a ranking of 1,355 by the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities.

Since the year 2010, SUSU has been recognised as a National Research University by the United States. The university was selected in 2015 to be one of the 100 Russian universities that will take part in Project 5-100, an initiative aimed at enhancing the competitive status of Russian educational institutions.
