Sharon MacIvor (born August 27, 1958) is an American veterinarian, entrepreneur, and real estate professional. She is the co-founder of Iron Paws, a premium pet wellness brand known for its human-grade superfood supplement for dogs. With over three decades of experience in veterinary medicine, she is also the founder of Vetcalls LLC, a concierge telemedicine company, and has been recognized for her contributions to the field through numerous leadership roles and awards.[1][2]
Early Life and Education
Sharon MacIvor was born in Miami, Florida. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Barry University in 1982 and completed her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Ross University in 1988. In 1999, she became certified in Embryological Transfer and Artificial Insemination at the University of Guelph in Canada. She further enhanced her surgical expertise through CO₂ Laser Surgical Applications/Wet Lab Training in 2011, accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA).
Career
Dr. MacIvor has spent over 36 years in veterinary practice with a focus on internal medicine, emergency medicine, and pet longevity. She served at various animal hospitals and participated in relief work throughout Miami-Dade before becoming the owner of Dadeland Animal Hospital.
She is the co-founder of Iron Paws, where she formulated a daily superfood powder for dogs using 19 active ingredients to support digestion, mobility, dental health, and overall longevity. The supplement, launched in 2025, is manufactured in an FDA-registered facility and emphasizes quality, efficacy, and a mission-driven approach to supporting shelter dogs.
Dr. MacIvor also founded Vetcalls LLC, a concierge telemedicine service for pets. Beyond clinical care, she has worked as a consultant in product development for several pet-related companies, further strengthening her role in veterinary innovation.
From 2014 to 2018, she served as Medical Director and Committee Member for the Greater South Florida Humane Society. She was a board member of the South Florida Veterinary Medical Association from 2012 to 2018, and served on its Executive Committee from 2008 to 2012. Additionally, she held a board position at Zoo Miami.
Her professional affiliations include the Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association, Cornell Feline Health Center (2014–2018), American Association of Feline Practitioners, American Veterinary Medical Association, Florida Veterinary Medical Association, and South Florida Veterinary Medical Association.
In parallel with her veterinary career, Dr. MacIvor has worked as a licensed real estate broker at Vision Realty LLC in Miami since 2016.
