Shannon is an American pop singer and songwriter born in Dallas, Texas, in 2004. He is from a family with a music tradition in classical piano and song writing. He began his music training on piano and guitar at age 5, and he did his first public pop performance at age 6. For a number of years he did recordings at local Dallas studios of cover songs, which became popular on his original YouTube® channel with covers such as “Say You Won’t Let Go”, originally recorded by James Arthur, getting more than a million views. Based on his success on YouTube®, he was invited to begin recording videos at the YouTube Space® in Los Angeles.[1]

Shannon’s breakthrough original song “Do You Know”, recorded at Capitol Studios® in Los Angeles from his debut album, was released in early 2020 on his new social media channels on music streaming sites.[2]Given the response to “Do You Know”, an acoustic performance version of the song and a piano/orchestral version were released at the end of the 2020.[3][4]The songs have generated over 500,000 views and digital downloads. The song description on the sheet music available on his website shows that the release of the instrumental version of “Do You Know”, arranged and performed by piano virtuoso James Tran, formerly with CBS/Sony®, was timed for eligibility for submitting the song for nomination for the 2022 Grammy Award® for Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella.[5]Another song on his first album “Loving You”, won 2019 Semi-Finalist for Best Song of the Year in the International Songwriting Competition, with Will Carmack of Fifty50 Studios and James Tran as co-producers.[6]Mixing has been by sound engineer Francesco Benvenuto, with Universal Music Group®.

His songs are listed on online platforms as Pop, but some of his songs have a Rock or R&B vibe. A significant portion of his fan base shown on his social media is international, likely due to his recording of Spanish language cover songs. These cover songs, such as Devuélveme El Corazón originally released by Sebastián Yatra, attracted a following on Facebook with over a million online views.[7]

Shannon plays the keyboard and guitar on pop songs and in live performances. In November 2020, he released an instrumental titled “America” that is concert piano with cello accompaniment arranged and performed by James Tran.[8]Pre-release postings show that the vocal lyrics version of the song is set for release in early 2021.

Given the popularity of TikTok® with his fanbase, a dance beat re-mix version of “Do You Know” was created on the platform by sound engineer Will Carmack.[9]
