Shaina Denny (born April 29, 1992) is an American entrepreneur and investor. She is the founder of Dogdrop, an award-winning VC-backed start-up known for launching dog care facilities across the country for the new generation of pet parents.[1][2][3]

Denny is regarded as a pioneer in spearheading a tech and lifestyle startup that focuses on offering quality dog care facilities and experience.[4] Under Denny’s leadership, Dogdrop has raised venture funding from leading consumer and pet care funds such as Science-Inc, Mars PetCare (Leap Ventures), Muse Capital, and several other investors. She also has backing from Garrett Smallwood, the CEO of Wag![5]

Early life and education

Denny was born on April 29, 1992, in Long Beach, California. She grew up in a Catholic and Jewish household with three siblings: Adam, Jasa, Eric. She completed her high school education at Los Alamitos High School. During that time, Denny was an All-American Lacrosse player. She was also a member of the Seal Beach Leo's Club (Lion's International), where she held many board positions, as well as a two-time president of the club, ending her high school career with over 500+ hours of community service.

She was also recruited to Whittier College to play NCAA DIII Lacrosse. Denny later enrolled in Whittier College, where she pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. During her time there, she played NCAA DIII Lacrosse and was elected Captain of the team her senior year. Denny also studied at Hult International Business School, where she acquired a Master’s degree in International Business.

Career

Denny started her career in 2009 when she joined Bounce Entertainment as a Lacrosse Coach, where she offered her services for two years. In 2010, Denny joined Los Alamitos High School, where she served as the Lacrosse Coach for a year.[6]

In 2012, Denny became the Assistant Program Director of Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival for five months, during which she worked alongside several prolific European directors. Shortly after, she worked as a Media Content Intern for Live Nation.[7]

In 2019, Science-Inc. (Santa Monica based start up studio and fund) backed Dogdrop and Denny began working full-time on bringing the concept to life. The inception of this venture was inspired by her miniature dachshund, Poppy. Dogdrop launched in January 2020 and is headquartered in Los Angeles, California. Dogdrop opened its first dog daycare located in the Arts District Downtown Los Angeles and is building the largest network of dog daycares. It is regarded as the first millennial tech-enabled dog daycare brand known for its super convenient, top-quality physical locations and monthly memberships that are designed to give urban pet parents more flexible, on-demand access to quality dog care facilities anytime, anywhere. Dogdrop is backed by leading consumer and pet care investors such as Mars PetCare, Science Inc, Muse Capital, the CEO of Wag! (Garrett Smallwood), and others.[9][10][11]
