Shaima Al Marzooqi (Arabic: شيماء المرزوقي), born in 1988 is an Emirati children’s author, writer, critique and social worker. Al Marzooqi is the mother of Hafsa, the youngest Emirati author to receive UAE Pioneers Medallion[1].

Education

Shaima received her Bachelor of Science in Education (Early Childhood Education) from Zayed University in 2011.

Career

Al Marzooqi writes in many media outlets, such as Al Roeya Newspaper, Al Arab Newspaper published from London, and Al Hayat Newspaper. She writes a daily column in Al Khaleej Newspaper, along with other columns in Security Magazine and Marami Magazine[2].

She is active in a number of organizations such as:

  • Dubai Press Club
  • Arab Parliament Expert Training
  • Emirates Writer Union
  • The UAE Board on Books for Young People
  • Emirates Female Writer Association

Her Work

Al Marzooqi Enriched the Arabic Library with more than 37 books targeted to children and youth, in addition to books discuss her opinion on societal, cultural and intellectual issues. These books include “Since When do Bats Fly under the Sun” (منذ متى تطير الخفافيش تحت الشمس), “The Greats who Won with Good” (عظماء انتصروا بالخير), “Thought’s Station” (محطات مع الأفكار), “They Don’t Know how Great They Are” (لا يعلمون أنهم عظماء).

She had also won several awards from Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), and she was honored in 2017, by the supervisors of the Ninth Edition of “The Braille Story Project for the Blind” organized by Zayed Higher Organization for Humanitarian Care and Special Need, for her role as a partner.[4]
