Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan is a Nigerian individual known for his philanthropic efforts. He was born in 1985 into the Royal family of Ikoga Zebbe,[1] Badagry, Lagos State.

Whingan held roles as an Administrative Officer in Nsi Atai Local Government in Akwa Ibom State and worked in journalism at Paramount FM and Gateway.[2]

Early life and education

Born in Ikoga Zebbe, Badagry, Lagos State, Nigeria, he attended Oba Community High School in Abeokuta, Ogun State, and later pursued a Bachelor of Mass Communications degree from Olabisi Onabanjo University in 2009. He furthered his education by obtaining a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Anglia Ruskin University in the United Kingdom. Sesi is the son of Chief Pius Whingan, a notable member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), businessman, and former Supervisor of Agriculture in Badagry Local Government.

In 2017, Whingan established the Sesi Whingan Foundation,[3] a non-governmental organization focused on enhancing the lives of underprivileged individuals, particularly children, the elderly, and the vulnerable, in Badagry and neighboring areas. The foundation has undertaken significant initiatives, including road improvement projects like the Agric Road in Ikoga Zebbe. Additionally, it has supported community and religious leaders, as well as local business owners, in their endeavors.[4]

Politics

Whingan[5] was elected Member of the House of Representatives[6][7] for the Badagry Federal Constituency in Lagos State, Nigeria, in 2023, during President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration. He also serves as the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream).
