Sergio Prezioso (born 1978) is a pianist, educator and media composer. He lives in London where he works as a composer, pianist, teacher and lecturer.

Biography

Born in Italy, pianist and composer Sergio Prezioso studied at the Conservatory of Music “Braga”[1], graduating in Classical Piano cum laude in 2000. He studied with Antonio Castagna and Lucia Passaglia[2], a celebrated pianist and teacher, pupil of Alfred Cortot and Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli.

In the same year he was awarded the Best National Young Pianist prize, with the subsequent publication of a CD including the Bach-Busoni Chaconne. Subsequently, he began a concert activity that led him to perform, in recital and with orchestra, in many venues in Italy and abroad, and which earned him the appreciation of audiences and the press for the "brilliance of his technique and the freshness and imagination of his interpretations"[3].

In 2006, he graduated in Jazz at the Conservatory of Music “Casella” of L’Aquila, Italy, and after winning a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston[4], he moved to the U.S. and graduated summa cum laude at Berklee in 2012, majoring in Contemporary Writing and Production with a minor in Music for TV & New Media. Winner of international piano competitions such as the International Piano Competition "Monopoli"[5], in 2010 he won the John Dankworth Award (Boston, USA) for Best Vocal Arrangement of the year[6].

Career

In 2012 he moved to New York, where he worked as a freelance composer for Human Worldwide, Massive Music, Butter Music & Sound, Q Department, and Finger Music[7].

In 2015 he moved to the United Kingdom, where he obtained a Master of Science in Audio Production at the University of Salford as a scholarship recipient[8].

He wrote the music for a variety of multimedia projects as well as the scores for many advertisement campaigns, including Johnson & Johnson, Mitsubishi, Geico, Comcast, and Mercedes among others[9].

He is part of the Hollywood Elite composers team[10].

In addition to his work as a composer, Sergio Prezioso has been Music Director for several major acts, including TV shows Dancing with the Stars and Frozen Planet, in collaboration with Lincoln Center Stage on board of Holland America Line Fleet[11].

As a sound engineer, he has mixed and mastered numerous projects[12], including the award winning documentaries Naleena[13] and HeartWood[14].
