Sameer Garde (born October 9, 1966) is an Indian businessman and the CEO of Wadhwani Institute for Artificial Intelligence.

Early life and education

Garde was born in Kolhapur, in the state of Maharashtra, India. He did his schooling from The Frank Anthony Public School, New Delhi and St. Columba's School, Delhi. He completed BTech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Delhi Delhi in 1988 and Postgraduate diploma in Finance Marketing from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta in 1990.[1]

Career

Garde started his career with Nestlé in 1990. After working with PepsiCo and Whirlpool Corporation, he joined Dell India in 2004 as the Director of Sales. From March 2012[2] to June 2013[3] he was appointed as the president and managing director of Dell India. He has also served as the head of enterprise business at Samsung India[4] and the South Asia president of Philips Healthcare.[1] [5]
In 2017, Garde joined Cisco Systems as the president of Cisco India and SAARC.[2] [6] He resigned from this role to join Wadhwani AI,[7] [8] a non-profit research institute dedicated to developing artificial intelligence solutions for social good.
