Rudolph Schneider Laurent, Sr (born 20 February 1981), also known as Rudy, is an American Pastor, Politician, and Philosopher. Laurent presently serves as the Deputy Mayor of the Village of Spring Valley. Laurent is regarded as a leading political strategist and an evangelical leader of the Haitian American Community. He is highly acclaimed for his service in Haiti's Government.[1]

Laurent is a member of the First Baptist Church of Poinciana and has also served as the board member of Unspoken Smiles Foundation, along with being the Party Spokesperson for PAIN (Parti Agricole Industriel Haitian). He was also a Former Democratic Rockland County Legislator Candidate.[2][3]

Laurent organized the Crime Prevention Program and has served as the Youth Program director when he helped several victims that suffered in the 2010’s earthquake. He is known for his constant service to the community and is an avid social worker.[4]

Early life and education

Laurent was born on 20 February 1981 to Jean Laurent and Paula Bourdeau in Haiti. He grew up in the middle class and was a scholar during his highschool years.

Laurent graduated from the University Episcopal of Haiti with a Bachelor in Public Relations and applied Communication. He later immigrated to New York, where he pursued a master’s degree in Conflict Analysis and Resolution.

Career

Laurent started his career in 2011 as a Talk Show Host for Cablevision, a telecommunications firm based in New York. He worked for over eight years, during which he gained much acclamation for his work.

In 2013, Laurent became a Special Advisor in Youth Policy at MJSAC. He served for over six years at MJSAC.

In 2014, Laurent was appointed as the Party Spokesperson for PAIN (Haitian Industrial Agricultural Party). He worked for over five years at this party, where he was responsible for maintaining the party's position on specific portfolios, along with serving as a prosecuting counsel.

In the same year, Laurent was appointed as the Co-Chair of the Worldwide council of the Haitian Diaspora. This council is a worldwide-based community coalition that actively supports Haitian businesses, investors, political leadership, public figures, and provides support to the clergy and their congregations.

In 2017, Laurent was appointed as the Deputy Mayor of the Village of Spring Valley, NY. In 2019, he became the worship pastor of the First Baptist Church of Poinciana, FL.

Laurent also served as the Economics and Social Council of the United Nation, in 2019.

Personal life

Laurent married Myrmonde Joseph on July 30, 2005. He is a father of 4 Children named Oreli, Michele, Mauve, Ruby. He is fluent in French, Hebrew, and English.
